And just how many coaches have said no in the past only to leave days and sometimes hours after the remark? Stoops also said on Monday he would not be interviewing for any jobs going forward. Convenient considering he interviewed for the ND job on Sunday, don't you think?

 

BK did it at CMU right before taking the UC job, regretted it and said he would not put one of his teams in that situation going forward. Knowing BK, you will get his full feelings on the situation once the Big East Champion is decided Saturday...

My buddy coaches high school in North Carolina and he says the radio is talking up Butch Davis to ND.

It's funny because the folks that have ties to programs with the most to gain by UC falling back off the map are the ones making the strongest case for him to get the job while the large majority of the rest of the media are covering it very differently.

 

Do you really think supporters of OSU, Louisville and Pitt are thrilled with the idea that if BK does stay UC continues to climb the ladder of national prominence? May, Herbie and now Forde are piling on every chance they get, and if they did any homework that would know that the interest here is pretty one sided, and the side not nearly as interested isn't the one living in Cincinnati...

I have never said or thought for a second that he is there long term. I think the absolute best case is that he stays another 2-3 years to make sure the program is on more solid footing before he bolts, but wouldn't be shocked at all if he was out the door this time next week.

 

If it is ND, then they once again got turned down 4-5 times and are in the middle of their list based on what I am told from people that get paid a lot of money to follow this stuff on a national scale who do it a lot better than the talking heads at ESPN (who tend to run with opinion long before they look for facts).

 

I simply get a chuckle at those with the most to gain by the program going back under a rock are the ones screaming from the mountain top that he is as good as gone...

I saw that as well. He would be a great hire, but most would't like it. The man has an eye for talent that is unmatched IMO.

I don't think anyone thinks that on this current pace BK is a life-time guy at UC. ND has no interest at the moment, so BK shouldn't settle for being a last resort. He will get plenty of opportunities in the next few years so he doesn't have to go where he isn't wanted.
