Well it seems that Stoops is out and Meyer probably won't come so unless its Patterson or Kelly we will probably be going through this again in 4 years.

Tebow will be leaving but Florida will be a Top Ten team next year. The Gators do not rebuild they reload. ND cannot pay anymore money than Florida can pay and all you have to do at Florida is get instate talent and add afew more and you are going to be loaded every year. ND not what they once were.

 

I don't buy the money thing. UF cannot pay what ND CAN pay. They might be able to compete with what ND will offer, but if ND decided to make a drastic move UF or really no one else could match it or come close IMO.

We'll see. I still think they have a shot at him, but you never know. I believe they think they have a shot, but are keeping it close to the vest. Should UF lose the offer will be put on the table, but I wouldn't expect anything to come from Meyer for a while. I don't see him leaving Tebow and Co. before their bowl game, even if it isn't the MNC game.

I think reality changes. ND will always be his dream, but he may realize that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The best team in Florida seems to come in patters. It was Miami in the 80s, FSU in the 90s, Miami in the early 2000s, UF now. UF will always be good, but I don't think they are going to continue to win 2 of 3 titles (maybe 3 of 4) from now on until enternity. If he really wants to coach at ND this is his last and best shot IMO.

Stoops to ND

 

As mentioned before, most universities hire an outside consultant to look at a number of candidates and use back channels to communicate about coaching positions. In this day and age, obviously information needs to be kept confidential when peoples’ jobs are being talked about and that is the way it’s done now.

 

From the information I have gathered, the consultant that represents Notre Dame has talked to people from the Stoop’s party and have an agreement in place verbally for him to accept the job.

 

So, when Bob Stoops says he hasn’t talked to Notre Dame, he’s telling the truth. When Jack Swarbrick says he hasn’t talked to any coaches, he’s telling the truth. A middle man (lack of a better term) handles these things confidentially.

 

What I have heard from five different sources is that the Stoop’s party has agreed verbally to most of the contract between the two parties and is just waiting to get the final word on if his financial demands are going to be met by Notre Dame.

 

I was told Weis will be let go early this week and if all goes through with Stoops, he’ll be announced as head coach late this week.

 

I’m not citing my sources obviously or naming the middle man as I don’t want to screw anything up here if this information is all correct. These things can fall through and as I said, I’m going from sources here, but there is a lot of fire here, not just smoke. I will say that the sources go from the Oklahoma side, to the Notre Dame side and to neutral parties.

 

So, at this point all the information I am getting is that once the contract has ink on it, Bob Stoops will be the next coach at Notre Dame. The last step is monetary from what I have been told.

 

I have also been told that Brian Kelly is not an option at all, period. The reasons cited to me were his direct and indirect involvement with both Gary Hart (while he was a student at Assumption) and John Kerry during campaigns.

Exactly what I was thinking. I was getting ready to post that the other day. No one here or anywhere else has any inside information at this time, IMO. GT may know about where BK stands, but as many have said he isn't believe to be a strong candidate right now any way. I don't believe that anyone really knows what ND is planning to do.

This is also something that came up as I was talking to my national source Friday. Most signs I have say BK is not really an option for ND...

 

As weird as it is, I was told this at bowling tonight....not from any great source, but a modest booster...that keep his ears close to the ground....he says Kelly would be great...but he has "different beliefs"...

A current nightmare of mine is that Stoops goes to ND (which I think is a lock), and that Sumlin goes to OU.......now I am not saying I am dead set on Sumlin coming to Louisville, but I would like for it to be Jurich's choice, not OU's.

I'm going with Myer. It is his dream job. If he can win it with Tebow it can't get any better at Florida. He'll never have a guy leading his team like again with a bond like that. ND is where he started and it's always been his dream. That doesn't change down deep and he's the type of guy that has the ego that rebuilding ND would be like nothing else for him IMO. He also wouldn't have to not only run the table in the toughest division in football but also win a confrence championship to be #1.

Stoops would be OK at ND I think. It would be interesting to see if he would be interested in the Fla job if Myer left there.

I'm a Dungy fan but not sure that is a great fit. Different ballgame. If I'm ND I'm getting somebody that has proven they can do it at the college level. That's why if the big 2 don't happen I would be after Kelley with TCU's coach the darkhorse.

Don't be suprised if Charlie Strong isn't named at UofL really soon.

I don't know why Kelly would take that job anyways. He can't get a lot of the recruits in at Notre Dame hes gotten into Cinncinatti. It would be crazy IMO for Meyer or Stoops to leave where they are at. The guy that seems to make sense to me is Harbaugh at Stanford. For one thing he has shown he can beat USC!
