Pulaski advances to 1st Class 5A regional final

Somerset — After taking care of Perry County Central last week by a 35-21 margin in the first round of the playoffs, Pulaski County head coach Johnny Hines openly questioned why his club wasn’t getting the respect he thought his team deserved.

Pulaski County plays for 1st regional title tonight

Somerset — The Pulaski County Maroons are just one win away.

One win away from a regional championship.

One win away from an 18-game home winning streak.

One win away from shutting up all the ‘nay sayers’ once and for all.

Pulaski wins 1st Regional title

Somerset — Before the 2009 high school football season ever kicked off, several media observers as well as a rabid fan base called the ‘09 Pulaski County Maroons the greatest football team in school history — on paper at least.

I'm sure HHS has to face this question everytime they face a new team in the playoffs that they've never faced before from EKY.

I don't consider teams like Pulaski and Rockcastle from EKY. West of I-75 is not EKY to me....IMO!! I would think Pulaski is educated enough on this issue to know better that a Majority(95%) of HHS players have grown up in FT Thomas. What is it....The Ohio License plates on the cars. Certainly people are not reaching for that excuse. I think you are mistaking us for Lou St X. (I.E. Indiana plates)....:D

Last Friday night after the Birds scored their 1st TD, a very loud JC fan stood up and yelled, "YOU WOULDN'T BE SO GOOD IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE 50 PLAYERS FROM OHIO."

No they didn't.....:lol::lol:.....Once again I'm sure coach Matney is spiking the Coolaid he is serving....After watching that short clip of Pregame speech before the CovCath game, I can't imagine what kind of Fairytale he was serving this past Friday...:lol::lol:

How about the alien super men recruited from Mars? Maybe HHS fans should by some radio air time and newspaper ads to put this nonsense to rest.Excuses, excuses! Just play the game and take your licks!

All Pulaski wants is RESPECT. I believe if Pulaski wins they deserve respect.

You get repect by beating this type of team, not by asking for it. Like Most in PC have.

Rockcastle has beat Highlands and been beat by Highlands. If PC can win then you can be on the same level as Rockcastle with respect. I do hope the Bluebirds crush all PC hopes with a running clock.

PC won their district & region. They absolutely deserve respect for that. First time in school history, ... that is a major accomplishment. I know you HATE them, but facts are facts. I took some of the fans on here to task with some negative comments about other teams, but they won the region fair and square after the loss of one of their primary playmakers.

However, I don't think they will match up with HHS well. Then again, very few teams in the entire state match up with the Bluebirds very well. PC has accomplished a great deal this season, but I would be shocked if it doesn't end on Friday.

HHS 49

PC 14

Speaking of license plates I saw one after the game that read "CAKE-ETR" (I'm not telling what state it was.) I thought that was pretty cool !!!!

That is fine but they are, however you are entitled to your own opinion. Not sure what that really has to do with people being educated, ust because you don't consider Pulaski a mountain school, they should be educated? Very stereotypical and HHS fans should expect that kind of flack from schools who do not have any post season success because all they have ever heard is rumors and speculation on HHS and their enrollment. EKY people can be educated as well.

Despite all of that however, Pulaski County still isn’t getting the kind of respect that coach Hines believes his club should be getting.

And, the PC head coach isn’t one bit happy about the lack of respect either. As quoted in Somerset newspaper.

Earning RESPECT and asking for it is two different things. PC ask for it and acts like they deserve it because they ask for it. Highlands deserves RESPECT. Do you hear Highlands asking for RESPECT in the newspapers?

I'm sorry I used that word in the way I did. I guess I should of stated it a little different..Maybe Uninformed....Is that better? It just gets a little old hearing people open their mouth not knowing what the heck they are talking about. And yes, I do not think the people from EKy are uneducated. I didn't imply that..If it sounded like I did, then I'm sorry. I'm not trying to Stereotype anybody. Once again sorry....

Rumors exactly....The best one I think I heard over the past 10 years was that we had Dorms on campus that housed our recruits. I think it was back in 98 when we played Sheldon Clark.....Who was the coach back then? Oh I almost forgot.....Jim Matney!!!!!:lol::lol: That should explain the "Rumor"

This thread is about Pulaski and Highlands Semi Stae match-up, no one wants to listen to your negative rants against Pulaski.:sssh:

Population of Pulaski County: 60,851

Population of Fort Thomas: 16,495

Oh geesh! Not this stuff again! :ohbrother:

We get our players from Fort Thomas, KY. Now, a few do decide to come to us from other parts of the small, three county area of NKY. But we do not go over and "steal" kids from Cincinnati!

If that's the kind of talk that's going around Pulaski County -- as it seems to, this time of year, in the mountains -- you should let them know that this is not an excuse they'll be able to hang their hats on.

Somerset and Pulaski Co. are not in the Mountains.

For my two cents worth, I have been told that Highlands players are all legit. They all live in Ft. Thomas. Nobody from Pulaski Co. is coming up with an excuse that if the Maroons don't win then it was because all their players are from Ohio. If the Bluebirds win, then it was because they are the better team. Pulaski Co. has never been this far before, and getting here has been an accomplishment. However, the Maroons do want to win this game and advance to the State Championship Game. Their coaching staff and fans understand the history and tradition of the Highlands program. Matter of fact, one of Pulaski Co.'s Assistant Coaches was the Offensive Coordinator at East Jessamine in 03 and 04 when the Jaguars lost in the second round both years to Highlands. He has been filling everybody in on the nuances of playing Highlands. They are probably the best team in the state, regardless of class, with 3 or 4 D-I prospects on their roster. That being said, everybody enjoy Thanksgiving and give thanks, and have a safe trip traveling to Ft. Thomas.

All Pulaski wants is RESPECT. I believe if Pulaski wins they deserve respect.

Was the Whitley victory the biggest in school history?
