Does this surprise you about the Bengals/Ravens?

Featured Replies

The Bengals are a 3pt home underdog to a team they recently beat on the road. Additionally, the Bengals are coming off of their best performance of the year. However, the Ravens are also coming off of their best performance of the year.

Are you surprised the Bengals are a 3pt dog?

Yes since this is at home. Some say home field advantage accounts for 3 points in the NFL so really Vegas thinks Baltimore is 6 points better after we already bet them. I just don't see it. If you look at the stats for both teams its scary how similar they are. I thought it would be a Push at worst and maybe the Bengals -1 but they know what they are doing.

I don't bet but if I did I'd bet the Ravens to win.

I think the line reflects a couple of items:

Big win by the Ravens last week. Dominating performance.

Bengals bye - bettors forgot about their last victory

Bears not as good as people thought

"Bengals" - many still aren't convinced.

That's the main one I believe. Followed closely by the Raven's win last week.

This the one, I am still not convinced myself, but these next two weeks will tell.

I don't know what the Bengals track record is after a bye but I heard it was pretty bad. Now it may not fit this seasons' team because they've been bad no matter what type of schedule they've faced. I wouldn't be suprised if the Ravens win the game but I will be suprised if Cincy comes out like they did against Houston.

These two weeks will tell? People have been saying that for awhile now.

I love the Ravens at -3 but can't bring myself to bet on it.

I hope the Bengals win.

Im kinda surprised that they are a 3 point dog at home. I mean they have already beat them in Baltimore while not really playing that well and they pretty much dominated that game defensively giving up only one offensive td on a weird play and Carson gave them the other 7.

The bengals are the better team in this one.

I think that's a huge part of it and that the Ravens get a lot of "name" recognition. They have for years.

It seems like people say that with every big game the Bengals play. They they we will find out if they are for real, then the Bengals win and now people are saying that again. The Bengals have beat the Packers, Steelers, Ravens, Bears and the Browns. All are really good football teams except the Browns, and have lost to the Broncos and Texans. The Broncos are in first place in their division, and the Texans are going to be right there fighting for the playoffs. Yet the Bengals with a 5 and 2 record still have not convinced people? I mean seriously what do they have to do? I mean the Bengals could lose the next two games, and it still wouldn't mean that they aren't for real. Which I don't think they lose both, I think at worst they lose one.

Well one winning season in the last 20 years will bring doubt.

2006 didn't the team fall apart at the end to not make the playoffs?

As a fan of Pittsburgh (who I think is better), I still have my doubts that cincy is for real. I am still confused of which team I would rather win this week, because the Ravens worry me more. I am just being honest.

It makes sense to me.

1. Both losses are at home.

2. Seems like they usually split the Baltimore series.

3. Having trouble selling out home games may have been a factor, because they may assume many Baltimore fans will be at this game which will take some of the edge away from the home team.

4. As mentioned earlier, I think the Bengals typically struggle after the bye week.

I'd take Baltimore and give the 3.
