I think I'm going to go with the due theory. Ashland has only lost once and are due to lose, Dixie has lost 2 in a row that they should of won so they are due to win. Dixie wins in a close battle on the due theory. :idunno:

Didn't strike a nerve, just I don't see the Massey ranking having anything to do with it. I think that ranking gives you credit for loosing to teams that do well. Like for instance, Dixie got a lot of points for playing Highlands with Higlands beating Cinci St. X. Dixie would have got points for that no matter if they would have lost by 1, or if they would have lost 101. I only see a team getting credit for playing good teams if they win or play them closer then expected. But, that's just me.

On a serious note, good luck to both teams Friday night.

The nice things about the computer rankings is they are objective. I would like to see any ratings system, AP or Coaches or Litkenhous that put Ashland over Dixie. Dixie is actually a better team than they have shown so far, so again I would expect a 'break-out' game from them. They are so over-due.

 

Dixie is the stronger team, period. Now whether they prove that or not will probably depend on whether they have learned from their recent debacles against CovCath and Boone.

 

When you get to this point in the season, you are what you have shown. If they were better, they would have shown it by now. I know what you are getting at ... they have talent and there is a game in the team somewhere that will equal the talent and expectations. I really thought Dixie was going to have a great season. Instead, they have just had an average year IMO. If Dixie puts together that game everyone thought they would "show" us all season, then they can definitely win this game and maybe by more than one TD. But they haven't "shown" it all year so I wouldn't be counting on it now. Sometimes teams just have to face up to who they really are and that it isn't "who we thought they were". I would love to see Dixie put together that game but I see nothing that would cause me to think it will suddenly happen this week.

The Tomcats can reach the 10-win mark for the first time since their 1990 state championship season by defeating Dixie Heights on Friday night at Putnam Stadium.

 

“Any time you win 10 ballgames, everybody understands you are a pretty good football team,’’ said Ashland coach Leon Hart.

Year after year Ashland is going to have games like this in the playoffs where everyone questions the strength of their schedule while praising the strength of the Northern Kentucky teams. It is pretty obvious that the Northern Kentucky teams as a whole are considerably stronger than teams from our Northeastern Kentucky area, but Ashland is the best that our area offers and I bet they could have gotten beat by the same margins or less playing Dixie Heights' schedule.

 

I don't think this game will be a blowout, but I do think Ashland moves on. I certainly hope they get the chance to go play Highlands. After all, we've already seen what the result of the Highlands-Dixie matchup will be. I'm not as enthusiastic as the Raceland fans are for Ashland, but I do hope they win this week and I think they will.

I think you're probably right.

Will be a tought game for the Cats, but being at home gives them the edge, plus i think their defense is better than most people are giving them credit for. Tomcats pull away in the 4th quarter.
