Dixie should win except they have a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot and have had their share of bad luck. The home field advantage should equalize the apparent Dixie power advantage. That being said, Dixie is 'due' to have a breakout game. Their offense is tough to stop, but their 'D' has had a lot of problems stopping 6A teams in NKY.

So, if Dixie loses, it's Dixie's fault and Ashland has nothing to do with it. Nice.

I'l be the first to say that I don't know mich about Dixie but imo the Tomcat defense is as solid as it gets, especially the team speed on defense. I believe the Tomcats wll take care of business in this one.

Ashland is young – due to injuries Ashland is down to just 7-seniors that start (I think). The O-line isn’t as big as last year’s, but it’s faster and athletic. The offensive backfield is essentially the same as last year though. The defense is fast to the ball. Team speed is our best asset.

 

IMO, we played our best game of the season against Ironton, OH. This is a team we haven’t beat since 1990! Our passing game was on for this game and coach showed a nice mix of plays. The game also featured some of the hardest hitting I’ve seen in a long time. If we can rise to this level again, expect a good game - you'll get your money's worth.

 

Dixie plays quite a few underclassmen on the defensive side, but their key players on offense are all seniors. As many have stated already, their offense has had issues with turnovers. Play calling has also come into question, but nothing like last year. They just like to abuse some plays at times. Defensively, their struggle has just been tackling. They simply cannot tackle, and I think that's going to be a huge problem against this Ashland team. I don't think they can really match points with them.

I know that I couldn't hold Dixie to 7 points :ohbrother: ,I am a bit out of shape, too old and too slow but I do believe that Ashland might :lol:.

 

As for me, I will be concentrating on my Raceland Rams vs. Lynn Camp and will be pulling for Ashland.:thumb:

This is one area in North-Eastern Kentucky where size doesn't matter. I would say in our area there is less disparity between the classes then anywhere else in the state. But, I don't expect most of the Northern Kentucky people to understand that.

 

I don't know about that. We have 1A and 2A schools that can beat, or hang with, almost anyone else in NKY. We essentially have a 3A school that beats everybody. I don't think size really matters in NKY either. I think it just might appear that way to some outsiders since there are so many schools in a small area.

We have a 1A school that competes with everyone and beats most, we don't have any 2A schools, and we have a 3A school that competes and beats most.

 

What I meant was, not that the smaller classes were inferior to the larger schools in NKY, but that it always seems that fans on here in NKY pick the larger school to win(spare Highlands), which I don't always understand. But, in NEKY many times the size of the school is not a determining factor. 1A Raceland beats many larger schools, 3A Russell beats many larger schools, and 5A Ashland has it's wins and sometimes looses to the previous two schools. Picking these three schools to win because of size is not a smart way to go.

 

But, nonetheless, I would give Dixie the nod on the strength of schedule. But, the listing of the size of the schools as a determining factor for a weak schedule is tiresome, derogatory, and frustrating.

Ashland's defense will win this game. Ashland has a very solid defense that has been proven to be equally good against the run as the pass. Very fast defense.

I would take the AA to US 23, at the end of the AA, and turn right. Drive into Ashland, aprx 15 miles. Turn right on 29th St, drive aprx 3 miles and you will see the stadium on the right.

May be a good thing that "Massey" isn't playing this game , Ashland and Dixie are and it is being played on a football field. Computer picks/rankings are for people like us with nothing better to do to look at and really means nothing when the teams line up across from one another. Ratings are o.k..............untill the game starts and someone gets hit. :thumb:
