Miles Simpson is the best player in the state. He should be Mr. Football. If Miles plays, eh, a whole game against any of those teams mentioned he has 3000 yards this year easily, and that is with being hurt. Stats aren't everything.

How can one say so-and-so is so much better than the others when you haven't seen the others at least twice? Stats are not the tell all sign of how good a player is. In NKY, IMO, Miles is the best candidate. Collinsworth is one heck of an athlete, but 2 things keep him at #2; injuries and ball security. When healthy, he's been a solid running back that's played some good competition. As good of a running back he's been, he's probably one of the best, if not the best, receiver and DB in the state.

When he sees a hole, he's gone, and if it's not there, he's patient enough to wait for his blockers to open something up. And if I'm not mistaken, during the Ryle game they said he's had 240+ carries without a fumble. The only knock on him is that he might run a little too tall at times. I've seen the arguments where he's doing this against 6A competition. Well, IMO, that argument doesn't hold any water as he plays on a 6A team. He's the best running back I've seen in NKY is years. Not to mention, he's a pretty good returner and a very good safety.

I'm not concerned with this.....as long as the Fort Campbell Falcons hoist that state championship trophy over there heads in Bowling Green, Kentucky......I don't really care who wins Mr. Football.

They are all great high school players and whoever wins the award deserves it and the players who don’t win are all still among the best in the state.

McCaden has put up impressive numbers. I haven't seen him. McShara is right there with him IMO. Simpson is in the top 3 with those two guys I'd say.

Shane Pack hasn't gotten nearly the carries or would be right up there numbers wise. Alber from Ashland is another back that should be mentioned along with these 4 guys as some of the better backs in the state. He's a load! Hayden from LCA is up there too.

QB wise it seems like the kid out West is in a league of his own this year. Any other D1 QB's in the state this year?

The best, and maybe only, true D1 QB prospect in N. Ky. is Nick West of Conner. He has the size that D1 recruiters demand. He has over 2,000 yards passing and just below 1,000 yards rushing. I heard he was getting D1 looks before the season but have not heard anything more during the season.

Rees MacShara finished the regular season with 2170 yards and 30 rushing tds.

 

He had 11 receptions for 260 yards and 3 tds

 

He had around 10-15 tackles, 2 ints, with 1 int return for a td.

 

He had 17 carries for 202 yards and 3 tds AT Christian County in our last regular season game.

 

He is the first Boyle County Rebel to rush for over 2000 yards in a season and his lineman take a lot of pride in that, as well they should.

 

I understand that many of you believe that since he is not a D-1 prospect and that he doesn't do this against 6A competition or that because his position is running back and not quarterback/kick returner that he is not deserving of the award.

 

To that, all I can say is:rolleyes:

 

He has been a joy to watch and I hope he gets the prize he truly wants.....a 4A State Championship.

 

Not only is he 5'9" 170 pounds, but he thanks his lineman in every post game interview for opening the holes for him to run, and he also says that when he gets a State Championship he will reflect on the season he has had. To that, I say no, Rees...reflect on the career that you had at Boyle County. You are truly one of the greatest Rebels ever and I am grateful for the chance to have watched you play.

I am really becoming an Andrews fan, no not Erin, but Antonio. If this is a Mr. Football award, and not a Mr Running Back award, I am beginning to think Andrews is the man. Passing, rushing, kicking, returning, and he plays defense too. He seems to be a true Mr. Football.

 

I feel the same way...Mr Football...not Mr. Rb..even though the top five I would love to have on our team, without a doubt!!!!

I still think Miles Simpson is the best in the state, but for the sake of "keeping it real", if the award wasn't given to Simpson then Ft. Cambell QB gets my vote.

Other D-1 Quarterbacks that I know of are Dylan Curry (UL Committ) from Western Hills. I do believe they will be moving him to defense though when he gets on campus. Also Jacob Russel (Anderson County) has been getting D-1 looks from Purdue, UL and Ky among others. I think some teams also envision him at another position but some smaller D-1 schools like him as a QB.

Curtis Pulley also played both ways, he was a very good FS at Hopkinsville. He may not have played the entire season there but I know in the big games he was back there.
