October 22, 200916 yr I have said it for years and years now, the SEC officiating cadre is among the worst in all of sports at that level and above. I don't have to watch Kentucky and see it happening. So many to name in such little time, of the absurd game costing calls the SEC is notorious for making. While I'm for Florida to win a national championship and I'm a huge fan of Tim Tebow and all of that team, the personal foul call nearly made me fall out of the chair on Saturday. It is about time the SEC holds this bunch accountable. The SEC is the best and most exciting conference in collegiate athletics and maybe the best settings for sports as a whole college or pro....but the SEC has fraudulent officials and frustrating to see games decided by them on a weekly basis.
October 22, 200916 yr I hear you LRCW... but were they mistakes is the debate.... I don't think there's any doubt that these guys will be fired if it's proven that it was intentional. And, I don't think anyone on here would argue with that. I didn't see the game. I'm curious to know if there were any other suspicious calls during the course of the game that would raise some eyebrows. Was there anything to hint that the refs may have been attempting to manipulate the point spread?
October 22, 200916 yr Don't you think that's a bit extreme? If you fire officials every time they makes mistakes, well then soon enough you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel. . These guys have to be pretty good officials to make it this far. Yes, they did make some real bad calls in the past few weeks, but firing them isn't the answer. :thumb: Unless proven that they had a motive for the bad calls, I agree 100%. Being an official is becoming exceedingly more difficult. Sometimes we all make mistakes, but at this level, they are magnified and scrutinized over and over again, ... and often on a national level.

October 22, 200916 yr While I was watching the game I was talking to a friend of mine from Arkansas. I called him a little earlier to ask him if the riot police were ready. When they made 2 phantom calls for Florida on that drive I told him nevermind the SEC won't let Florida lose apparently. I'm not convinced they were cheating, but I'll never be convinced they weren't. I am with you on this. Officiating is very difficult and mistakes are part of it, but when you see phantom calls like this, it greatly affects the integrity of the game. These were not blown calls, they were made up calls that could have very well affected the outcome of the game. It lends to cheating or being on the take. That is the last thing they need in the SEC. Does anyone know if the same official made both of these calls in question?

Lorenzens year they should've beat Tennessee comes to mind. UT had the ball 4th down throw a long pass to the endzone incomplete. The players turn to return to the field and a pass interference flag magically appears. If these guys are consistently bad they need to be suspended.

I have seen it numerous times in the last ten years. The phantom holding call on Jorge Gonzalez on Cobb's 44 yard run still sticks in my craw. This was in the recent South Carolina game.
