Is the Bengals defense ready to go to the next level?

From what I've heard, he's been hurt and has missed some practice throughout the week, I don't think it's a talent issue.

I think it's more Marvin Lewis than it is Henry's injuries...

Marvin is still probably a little peeved about not having any control as to who is on his team. :thumb:

:thumb: Doesn't sound like a top 10 defense to me.

That means a lot coming from you.

17th overall. 26th against the pass. 14th against the rush. We'll get a real good gauge this weekend.

Baltimore is 3rd in offense.

All I know is that the best defense on the field today didn't belong to the Ravens...

Huh??? I take offense. What's that supposed to mean????

I hope they realize we can't run the ball against Baltimore. Even though we are trying to change our identity on offense, the only way we can beat Baltimore is if we open it up against them. Henry made some huge 3rd down catches last game and has to be the most talented 4th receiver in the league. If we line up and try to run right at them, it is going to get ugly.

I guess they didn't realize this and did it anyway.:clap:

The Odom injury could torpedo the whole season--for the defense. He's pushed them from average to exceptional with his presence.

Despite the awful season, our boys finished 12th in the league in total defense last year. The secondary looks good, the linebackers young and active and the D-line experienced. We all know the offense is only going to be as good as the line allows, but what about the D? Your thoughts? Do they have what it takes to be an AFC North type defense?

From what I saw today on tv the answer to your question if a big old fat "NO"

I was listening to the game at work and the same though crossed my mind.

You got that all from this ONE game. I guess the Giants D is about last in the league if you are going to base it on one game.

The Bengals defense was around 17th overall and in the 20's vs. the pass heading into the Texans game. I'm not sure they were ever exceptional.

They've got a solid defense, with some young talent, that is capable of playing very well at times, but also allow teams to move the ball at times. They still need a big time DT, IMO.

I disagree. Healthy Rivers and Moogalooga are the most significant upgrades, IMO.
