I look for Highlands to have excellent field position most of the night due to Ryle's poor special teams play. Also, Highlands should be able to stack the box on Ryle to slow down the running game as long as they can pressure the Ryle QB. Although he has improved from last year, he still tends to throw in to heavy coverage when pressured which should lead to some turnovers.

Highlands will put 50 up and this game will not be close.

Nice post. Can you elaborate more on Ryle's special teams? Is it in their coverage, or are the kickers poor?

Probably not wise to assume that corrections will not be made about what amounted to poor kickoff coverage, not overall "poor special teams play". Ryle punted well, returned punts and kickoffs well but they were poor on kickoff coverage. Keep those assumptions coming. Man, I'm starting to believe that it will really be an easy night for the Birds, perhaps a "cake-walk" in the park at Union.

Good point, I should have been more specific on their special teams play as I was referring only to their kick return coverage.

One other observation, I look for HH D line to wear down the Ryle O line as the game progresses. Alghough Ryle has frequently had strong players at the offensive skill positions, the offensive line has typically been their weak point. For whatever reason they simply don't grow em big enough in that part of the county (and in this case size matters). This year is no exception.

 

I look for a big night for the HH linebackers as I don't see Ryle getting off their initial blocks.

Without a doubt. I see Highlands scoring in triple digits and Ryle not even bothering to come back out after halftime. This will allow everyone to get to Buffalo Bob's much earlier and spend more time there than usual. BTW, if HHS was so predisposed, does anyone know if it is within KHSSA' rules to "spot" their opponent any points? Sure would be nice if Ryle could get on the board somehow.

Go Birds and remember you have the word Highlands across your chest. It not only means something to a lot of former players and to you, it means a lot.

Good luck to both teams.

It seems that Ryle has given Highlands a pretty decent game the last two years (especially when compared to how other Highlands games have gone against NKY competition over the past two years)... Ryle sounds like they are better than they were in 2007 and 2008, and the game is at Ryle... I will be a bit surprised if Highlands wins this game in a blowout. The only way I see that happening is if Highlands wears down Ryle late in the game and scores a lot of late-game points to widen the margin.

 

Also, will this game be covered live anywhere on the internet?

No way Highlands puts up 50.

I know you were at the Ryle CovCath game and that you know a lot about football, but 50 points and the game not being close? Man, that's a pretty strong prediction. You just trying to fire up the Raiders? J/K because I know you don't do that stuff and you call them as you think they'll happen. I really hope you are right. :thumb:

 

I know the Raiders think this is a chance to prove to everyone that they are at Highlands level, but I also know the Birds are rather irritated with the posts that have questioned their abilities and have stated that the Birds are over-rated. Both teams should be ready to go. While this year's Highlands team doesn't have the rah-rah type players that like to jump around and scream before the game (which caused several posters to claim they came out flat against Manual when they were not), I'll be really surprised if they aren't laser focused and ready to play. It's business time. Each player on Highlands team needs to simply do his assignment each and every play and good things will happen. Every player maintain his block until the whistle regardless of whether the ball is coming to your side or not. Fight for every yard when running the ball. Run every route like you are the primary receiver. Wrap each and every tackle on defense. Every one swarms to the football. If their receiver catches the ball, hit them hard enough that they remember it the next time they go out for a pass. Go Birds and remember you have the word Highlands across your chest. It not only means something to a lot of former players and to you, it means a lot.

 

As of now, the Birds are overrated. Based on all the preseason talk, no one should be within 4 TD's of them and they only won their first game 19-8. Sorry, but it is a fact that they are overrated as of now, one week into it. That can all change tonight of course.

Coach Woolf will have the Ryle D ready. They are fully aware of what they are up against and they welcome it. If Ryle can get the passing going they do have a shot but I do believe Highlands has too many horses. I am thrilled I will be standing on the field for this one.

Just remember it also reflects on the other 99% of Highlands fans that aren't Snotty, Disrespectful or so brutally honest about a rebuilding CovCath team.

 

The CovCath faithful are starting to sound like Bengals fans...:eek:

 

I have not seen papa 22320 called upon to show his Park Hills Mafia credentials so I don't know for sure, but I don't think he is one of the CovCath faithful. Rather, I think papa is a fan of high school athletics who respects the Highlands program and 99% of the fans, offering a good faith bit of advice. Of course, Cov Cath fans would sound like Bengal fans...if the Bengals had won the Super Bowl in 2006.
