What an outfield:

Sutton, Nix, and Gomes! A veritable Murderers Row:lol:

Perhaps a new moniker is in order. Jaywalker's Row?

Gotta love Hanigan and his .400+ OBP in the #8 spot, behind Alex Gonzalez ... wonders never cease with Dusty.

Sutton batting .077 and was in the leadoff spot.

Comical.

Is Dusty now fighting for his job?

They are not very good.....but he is not very good either.

Cue up Tom Petty..."Free Fallin"

Could not agree with you more. Dusty is keeping his Boy Phillips in the 4 hole.

He's on pace for a .270 BA and 100 RBI's...

Please Walt wake up and never make us fans go through another season with Weathers on the team. We keep him no matter what and keep getting rid of younger, live arm pitchers. After last night, he should just been released.:irked::irked::irked::irked::irked:

The Brewers offer was very similar to the Reds offer if I remember correctly. Cincinnati offered more years and a little more money. Players today go where they'll get paid. If they had 12 million extra to spend this offseason they could have addressed needs better.

Obviously he's not too limited by money. He added an $11M a year 35 year old 3B.

But the Blue Jays are paying almost all of Rolen's salary both this year and next.

Released?

If you don't like Weathers, that's fine. But don't act like he's the worst pitcher in the league. He's a capable middle reliever and setup guy who's been decent in that role for several seasons.

That's good. I thought they were just paying this years salary. If they pick up most of next years I like the deal a lot more. I'd be surprised if EE and Rolen don't put up similar numbers next year. Do you know how much of next years they're picking up. It didn't make sense to me to give up pitchers and add payroll.

Volquez to have surgery Monday

Posted by TomGroeschen at 8/1/2009 2:52 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com

RHP Edinson Volquez will have right elbow surgery Monday, the Reds just announced. On the DL since June 2, Volquez yesterday complained of elbow stiffness and soreness after throwing 20 pitches of a scheduled 80-pitch simulated game.

But the Blue Jays are paying almost all of Rolen's salary both this year and next.

I've read 3 articles and I can't find anything that says they are paying more than $4M which is what he's owed the rest of this year. If the Reds aren't getting more than that they got hosed in this trade.

Them, alon with the Cards, are picking up a lot of him money. I personally like the deal, nothing else they got rid of Edwin. I've always liked Rolen, he is a outstanding defender and better hitter than EE.
