August 2, 200917 yr Released? If you don't like Weathers, that's fine. But don't act like he's the worst pitcher in the league. He's a capable middle reliever and setup guy who's been decent in that role for several seasons. :thumb: I've been hard on Weathers, but he's done a decent job. He's a professional & has done everything asked of him. With that said, I'd trade him for whatever we could get in a heartbeat.
August 2, 200917 yr Votto third, Rolen fourth and Phillips either fifth or sixth ... I could work with that. Phillips is probably better off in that area of the lineup. But I hate seeing Sutton / Taveras / Gonzalex at the top of the lineup. If that's the case, I'd much rather prefer Phillips at the top. Gotta love Hanigan and his .400+ OBP in the #8 spot, behind Alex Gonzalez ... wonders never cease with Dusty. I agree, it's horrible.
August 2, 200917 yr Them, alon with the Cards, are picking up a lot of him money. I personally like the deal, nothing else they got rid of Edwin. I've always liked Rolen, he is a outstanding defender and better hitter than EE. I can't find anything that says the Reds aren't paying all of his $11M salary next year. That was a terrible trade for the Reds. The people who were saying Walt has in a bad spot b/c of bad contracts can no longer say that. The EE and Taveras contracts are bad and Rolen's is worse. How can they imrove in the OF, at SS, or at C if they are paying the money they are to Arroyo, Harang, Cordero, Rolen, BP, and Taveras? Not only that they traded away two guys who would have been big parts of their pitching plans for next year and the future. Dumb move by Jocketty.

I thought their farm system was supposed to be much improved over the past few years? BTW, I don't have a problem with Hanigan behind the plate, C is not as big a concern as it had been.
August 2, 200917 yr Gonzalez needs to be yanked right now!! How many times are these guys going to dog plays and get away with it:ohbrother:

Neither pitcher were among the top 10 prospects in the organization, according to Baseball America, and neither were penciled into the 2012 rotation.
August 2, 200917 yr Marquis might have gotten a little shaken up when he hit Rolen. New game 3-3.... New game same ole story. HR in the 8th. Rhodes fills in for Stormy though
