Does anyone else think that the Reds should trade Ramon Hernandez because A) this team isn't winning anything big this year B) Hanigan is a good player and will only get better with experience and C) Ramon is getting old but still has some trade value and we should sell high?
Does Hernandez have some trade value? He's not a hitter and anybody that deals for him now will owe him at least $5 million for the rest of the season, half of his $8 million salary and a $1 million buyout of his option in the offseason.

Is Hanigan reallly going to get better? He'll be 29 in August, an age by which most players have already peaked. His offensive value is primarily built on his batting average, which figures to go down as he gets more playing time.

Well the Phillies were cruising two nights ago 3-0 and the Reds came back and got the big win so that evens it out.

Weren't the Reds cruising last night before the come from behind by the Phillies? Pujols is good enough to make a 3 run lead dissapear. That game was lost by Rhodes, Dusty, and Janish plain and simple. It hasn't had anything to do w/ losing a few games since then. Arroyo wasn't beating Carpenter no matter the situation and they weren't scoring 23 the other night. Again, they won't contend b/c they can't hit, not b/c they blew a 3 run lead Friday.

Pretty sure you gotta pin the loss on either Weathers or Herrera if you're gonna blame anybody.

Weathers blew the save, Herrera got the loss

Edit: Janish is a good target too

This season Pujols with Bases loaded against RH pitcher. 6-7 .875 avg. 4 Hrs. 20 RBIs. Wow! Yeah good idea to pitch to him.

So, what would you have done?

Your World Series MVP is 5-5 with a 4.70 ERA

He's still a quite capable pitcher. My point is that losing to those two pitchers had absolutely nothing to do w/ Friday's dissapointing loss that the fans can't overcome but the players obviously have.

Nice edit, b/c Hererra got out of trouble if Janish fields a ground ball. I choose to blame 1/3 each on Dusty, Rhodes, and Janish. Weathers should have never been in the game and he got beat by a better player than him so I'm assigning him no blame.

Why shouldn't Weathers had been in the game?

For all the crap that Weathers takes on here, the guy has had a pretty good year.

So, what would you have done?

Put 4 straight under his chin and smiled at him as he trotted to first and still had a 2 run lead.

Because Puljos was 8-16 against Weathers in his career, with a couple of homers.

Can someone plaese tell me why they passed on Andruw Jones? 3 HR's last night and 14 on the year. Would have been really good for this team.

He's had an excellent year, but LRCW gives a pretty good answer. His stuff is nowhere close to Masset's. I'd flip flop their roles in a heart beat.

Finally something we can agree on. Weathers takes all kind of crap on here, but has been a very productive pitcher in his Reds career.

He was just put into a no win situation Friday Night

I don't disagree with you. However, that call comes from the bench and is easily made in hindsight. Dusty didn't make that call, and were you the one last week giving everyone grief for getting on Dusty? Or am I mistaken?

I formally retract any support I have given Dusty Baker in this thread. He is incompetent. Post 381 from week 13th thread.:thumb:
