July 9, 200917 yr I formally retract any support I have given Dusty Baker in this thread. He is incompetent. Post 381 from week 13th thread.:thumb: I suppose I should do the same, last year I gave westsider grief for his hacking on Dusty. He was right. I hate when he's right!!!

July 9, 200917 yr Author I know that westsider has said that Arroyo's contract status makes it impossible for the Reds to move him, and honestly I agree with him, but I can think of one trade that might possibly work. How about the Reds trade Arroyo and Chris Dickerson to the Dodgers for Juan Pierre. The Dodgers would get a innings eater who would benefit from pitching in a pitchers ball park, and a pretty decent 4th outfielder, while the Arroyo and Pierre contracts would basically cancel each other out.

I would rather have Dickerson than Pierre, for one thing. And why would the Dodgers want Arroyo?
July 9, 200917 yr Author I would rather have Dickerson than Pierre, for one thing. And why would the Dodgers want Arroyo? Pierre has played well this year for the Dodgers, and it would allow the Reds to get Arroyo out of the rotation. I'll admit that I haven't really kept up with the Dodgers this year, but any team that runs Eric Milton out there sure could take a shot at Arroyo.
July 9, 200917 yr Author I just read of a rumor that a Toronto radio station is supposedly reporting that there is a deal on the table for the Blue Jays to trade Scott Rolen to the Reds for EE and a minor league pitcher. I don't if there is any truth to it or not, but that rumor is out there.

Besides, Milton has pitched better than Arroyo has lately. Actually, the Dodgers could use some bullpen help. Troncoso and Belisario are on pace to throw around 100 innings, and there are reports now that Belisario may have some arm issues.

July 9, 200917 yr If that deal was made, the Reds would have to pay Rolen $15 million next year ... an $11 million salary plus a $4 million bonus. That's if the Blue Jays don't eat some of the contract.
