June 5, 200917 yr Author I believe that rule has been changed, and its no longer a possibility. Also, I don't think many people think he wouldn't get drafted if he stays in. Just likely he'd go in the secound round and not have any guaranteed money. He wouldn't even be guaranteed to stay in the league. Crawford was drafted and wasn't he then sent to the NBDL? I know Meeks may not rise into a top 10 pick next season if he stays, but I do think if he still averaged 22ppg but had a lot better grasp on shot selection, ball handling, and a better defensive mindset he'd definitely be a top 20 lock.
June 5, 200917 yr The question is to come back another year and almost guarantee a first round selection or go in the second round and struggle to make a roster and a living. Looks like a good decision is to come back another year.
June 5, 200917 yr I would love to see Jodie return, but I am not sure returning will up his stock any more next season. I have heard that the draft is weak this season and this may be the time for him to enter. I wish him luck in what ever he decides. If he does not return I have sure enjoyed his time at UK. I agree with your assessment. I think he would improve overall as a player by returning, but his goal is to make the NBA and he feels that he is ready now..............I believe he will take a chance and stay in the draft.
June 5, 200917 yr As I said on here a few weeks back Meeks is looking for a reason to stay in the draft. I'll be surprised if he returns...

June 6, 200917 yr I feel the same way. Unfortunately for Jodie there is virtually zero chance he's a first rounder. From reading what pro scouts have said about him he is going to be a mid to late second round pick. Stats from last year that tell me he needs to stay. 63 assists and 96 turnovers that is not what a 2 guard in the NBA can get by with. Like Jodie just hope he does the right thing for him.
June 6, 200917 yr I think he is tired of learning new offenses. First Tubby, then Billy G, now Calipari. IMO he will be a player of the year contender under Cal, but if he can get first round, I wish him the best of luck. :thumb:
June 6, 200917 yr Jodie needs to look in the mirror and realize that there is a chance to win a championship in his basketball career. Right now thats in college. To me your younger years has a lot to do about making memories for your older years. The stories one tells his children and grand children. I can hear him now...I played five years in the NBA even made it to the playoffs once. In 2009 my senior year as a Wildcat we won it all ! Now that's what its all about....CHAMPION ! Look in the mirror Jodie ! :thumb: Edited June 6, 200917 yr by Da champ spelling
June 8, 200917 yr I found an article that states that Jodie Meeks and Tyler Smith are going to pull out of the class. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=12884

June 8, 200917 yr I haven't seen any mock drafts that have him going in the 1st round or even early 2nd round....not saying they are all right but i think if he was going to be a first rounder at least a couple mocks would have him going in the top 40! My opinion he comes back and him and Pat and Wall go top 15 next year!

My opinion he comes back and him and Pat and Wall go top 15 next year! Meeks will never crack the top 15. He could possibly improve his chances of going in the first round by coming back, but I have my doubts about that. FWIW, I won't say it's impossible, but I don't think Meeks will be a first round pick this year or next. I'm wondering if he doesn't know or suspect that already, so he's thinking he may as well go now. 1. How much can he improve the flaws that would keep him out of the first round this year in one season? 2. Which helps his draft stock more, a potentially improved Meeks in a stronger, deeper draft class, or the current guy in a weak class? His chances of going in the first round may be as good as they're ever going to get in 2009. It's obvious he wants to stay in the draft. There's no reason he wouldn't have ended this by now otherwise.
June 8, 200917 yr Author If he comes back he'll improve his stock to a more likely 1st rounder but he'll never be the high pick that he thinks he is.
