TrueBlueWildcat Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I have no article or sources that say this but it seems after reading a lot of his quotes that he really just wants to leave and enter the NBA. Here is a list of everything that has happened with him * Almost definitely coming back * Still coming back, just testing the water * Will come back if not a 1st rounder * Will probably stay in draft if early second round. I mean he has went from coming back to seeming like he is just looking for any reason to stay in the draft. Now I'm not one of those fans who say that Meeks owes Kentucky something and needs to come back and what not, and I do agree that he needs to do what is best for him but the way it seems that he is going about it sends me a weird vibe. Anyone else feel that Meeks doesn't want to return? On a side note Meeks also mentioned that he thought about transferring to Minnesota when Tubby left.

The reason that this doesn't surprise me is that several college coaches didn't think Meeks could shoot coming out of high school because he was driving to the basket more in HS. Tubby felt he could shoot and showed that confidence in him. I still think that he would be MUCH better served to come back and learn the DDM offense under Calipari to improve his skills.

That's what I thought as well, and it's ultimately up to him and his family. I just think he'd be the player that would really benefit with this incoming recruiting class.
saint4 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I think he is tired of learning new offenses. First Tubby, then Billy G, now Calipari. IMO he will be a player of the year contender under Cal, but if he can get first round, I wish him the best of luck.

He is now saying that he'll likely stay in the draft if he'll be an early second round pick. In my opinion it would better serve him to comeback to develop his skills. He is truly not ready and would ultimately struggle in the NBA. I do wish him luck with whatever he decides.
dolamite Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I think hes gone. If he comes back it will really surprise me.
cardinalsvoice Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 This is an article from a Minnesota newspaper talking to Jodie about whether he will stay in the draft or return to school. If your Meeks you have to weigh everything...granted he can come back and maybe be part of something special with the talent coming in...but also too he could get hurt...as he did a few years ago...he could see his scoring go down and his stock slip with NBA teams because of it too...so he has to take a look at what is best for him...and if he is a 1st round pick...then as much as I would hate to see him go...I say "Thank you for what you did at UK...and I will be pulling for you in the NBA". Here is the link to the Minnesota article: http://www.twincities.com/columnists/ci_12513425?source=rss
pigman Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I think Jodie's a little worried about his playing time going down and his stats following. Coach Cal explained in his press conference the NBA looks at how productive you are while in the game. As Cal said his minutes may go down, but his productivity would probably go up because he would have to force less shots. In other words if you play 37 minutes and average say 20 points and 5 rebounds one year, and the next year you average 30 minutes a game and have the same averages your productivity actually went up and that's what the NBA looks at. Oh yeah while a little off subject I got to meet Demarcus Cousins yesterday one word of warning don't shake hands with him he almost broke mine.
kyfanintn Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I don't think Jodie increases his draft position by playing another year. This is the weakest draft in some time. I would love to see him come back, but I don't think it helps his pro prospects.

cch5432 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Why in the world would you want to come back to college? I like getting paid for my talents, as opposed to having the fatcats of the NCAA making money off of me. The only reason that he should come back is if one more year at UK will make him that much more money in the future. I don't see one more year helping, IMO.
spe690 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 If he is going to be a first round pick he has to stay in the draft. Next years draft is going to be loaded, so take the 3 years of guaranteed money. It is a no brainer!
Sharp Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I would love to see Jodie return, but I am not sure returning will up his stock any more next season. I have heard that the draft is weak this season and this may be the time for him to enter. I wish him luck in what ever he decides. If he does not return I have sure enjoyed his time at UK.
00Rocket28 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Can he just not do what Randolph Morris did if he doesn't get drafted?
mobaar Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Can he just not do what Randolph Morris did if he doesn't get drafted? I believe that rule has been changed, and its no longer a possibility. Also, I don't think many people think he wouldn't get drafted if he stays in. Just likely he'd go in the secound round and not have any guaranteed money.
