June 3, 200917 yr Still a wide open game and plenty of baseball left. Nix with a sac fly, Phillips scores. 1-1, runner on 1st, one out.
June 3, 200917 yr That's 2 misplays by Nix in left tonight. Why did Bronson throw Pujols anything decent to hit in that situation when he's already seen him 2 times already? I know first base wasn't open but no reason to give him anything good there.
June 3, 200917 yr A two hitter is a contact hitter. Bruce is a long ball/strikeout hitter. A two guy is a good bunter. How many bunts does Bruce have, more importantly how many sac's does he have? A two hitter shouldn't lead the team in HR's. And shouldn't be one of the top HR hitters in the NL. You want a guy with power like that knocking in the 1 and 2 hitter. The main goal of a two hitter is to make contact and move the leadoff guy over any way possible. A skill Bruce is very poor at right now.I think the primary skill of a two-hitter is to get on base for the big hitters in the 3-4-5 spots. If he has some power and can drive in the leadoff guy ... well, thats OK, too. Too many old-school baseball fans have the image of a two-hitter as a speed-and-bat-control guy. As far as I'm concerned, that notion is outdated. Dusty Baker, for most of his career, has gone that way ... maybe he's become open to new ideas.

June 3, 200917 yr Dusty confuses me. He moves Bruce to No. 2 to get him more fastballs because he was struggling and then moves him to clean-up the next night? :idunno: Bruce is hitting .220 with 45 K's in only 49 games. Get him out of the clean-up spot Dusty. Hannigan is hitting .319 through 26 games and 72 at bats why keep him in the 8 hole night after night? It's not exactly a simple hot streak anymore. .319 through 72 games maybe he can just hit a little there Dustball. You know maybe even move him up to the 7 spot and move the .220 average of Gonzo down.:madman:
