June 4, 200917 yr Cowboy thinks we might see Maloney up for Voltron's start. I mentioned that in last week's thread. I'd love to see the lefty get a shot.
June 4, 200917 yr Nix with 2 HR's tonight. I'm still frustrated that he didn't get to play earlier.
June 4, 200917 yr Ramon Hernandez has played very well at first base. But Ryan Hanigan is the reason why Hernandez is able to play 1st & fill in for Votto. Without Hanigan holding it down behind the plate, we'd have Hairston or Rosales there every day. I love this team.
June 4, 200917 yr Brandon Phillips having a huge night. He goes yard again. Jason LaRue is warming up...
June 4, 200917 yr ^ That was his 1st HR of the night. Yup. Didn't mean "again." Anyway, Phillips had a huge night. 3-5, 3 RBI, 3 Runs Scored, Stole 2 bases. He came into the game hitting .280. I think he's now up to .290
June 4, 200917 yr "Wants to" or "can play it well?" No one ever questioned the "want to" for Dunn. It was simply ability. The "wants to" only helps a team so much. LF is traditionally where you stick your worst OF and power hitter. So, you take 40/100/100 in exchange for some shoddy D. How many runs do you think Dunn gave up that a "wants to" LFer would not have? They seem to be doing just fine without him. While I like Dunn, I'm not as enamored with him as some of you. His and Griffey's complete and utter lack of enthusiasm held back the progression of the Reds as much as any numbers they put up could move the team forward.

I don't buy that his laid-back approach affected the rest of the team. Did his laid-back approach cause Bruce to get off to a hot start? Did it then cause Bruce to not be able to hit a lefty? He did his job and he did it well.
June 4, 200917 yr Brandon Phillips takes a shot at Dunn. Brandon Phillips was talking about Laynce Nix but what he said said a lot about what he thought of Adam Dunn. “He’s underrated,” Phillips said. “It’s all about a guy getting a chance. He's a great teammate . . . It’s good to have a guy in left field who can hit and catch the ball.” Ouch. Should make for a touching reunion when the Reds go to Washington next week. http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=blog07&plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3ae57bcc87-152a-4f72-96fb-cc08b1f396efPost%3abef135c3-1fd2-43b3-b05e-d911a4c11321&sid=sitelife.cincinnati.com

I also didn't notice Dunn being quoted last year as saying it would be nice to have a 2nd baseman who could field AND hit. I'm a Dunn guy but that's irrelevant. I'm not big on guys taking cheapshots against others in the media when they didn't have the cajones to say it to the guy's face . Says a lot about BP.

I think you are making more out of it than it really is. Let's take this as more of a compliment to Nix than a cheap shot at Dunn.
