Track The Reds (Week 9)

Featured Replies

I don't know where you got your info, but the Reds play the Cubs. It will be Owings vs. Zambrano. The Reds would have missed Zambrano, but the Cubs/Braves game was rained out last night.

It's not often you have a pitching matchup where their hitting will be more interesting than their pitching.

Agreed on the "doing fine without him."

I don't buy that his laid-back approach affected the rest of the team. Did his laid-back approach cause Bruce to get off to a hot start? Did it then cause Bruce to not be able to hit a lefty?

He did his job and he did it well.

I believe that both Griffey and Dunn were bigger parts of the team than some people want to admit.

I never once saw Dunn "mope around." He played 160 games per year. He showed up every day.

I'm of the opinion that you guys, and some others, grossly overvalue Dunn's overall contributions to the team. Sure, he put up some numbers. But he still struck out way too much, and wasn't clutch.

Had he stuck around, all he would be doing is teaching the younger guys how to "show up," draw a check, and lose.

Kinda like he's doing in Washington?

Hal McCoy is calling for Bruce to get a trip to Louisville, and Stubbs be given a shot in RF.

Jay Bruce before the road trip:

"We came in here and took care of business. We'll go on the road on a roll with some momentum. We plan on coming back [home] in first place."

Jay Bruce during the road trip:

1-27 1 Run Scored 1 RBI 8 Strikeouts .037 Batting Average

Reds: 2-5 on the trip.

He might want to avoid making any predictions for awhile.

What was he supposed to say?

We need to take things one day at a time. I'm just happy to be here and just want to help the ballclub any way I can. We just need to play to our potential and stay healthy.

You forgot to say, "I just need to learn to stay within myself."

At 22, I think I can give Bruce a pass. If he hasn't improved in 7 1/2 years, then it's a fair comparison.

The last two games have really hammered home how much the Reds are missing Votto, and to a lesser extent Tavares.

^ No doubt, Dickerson with a Web game you guys will get to see tonight on Baseball tonight.

BP left at 3rd. Just needed a flyball from Nix to tie.
