Track The Reds (Week 9)

Featured Replies

So Edinson pitches 1 inning in his first start back from the DL and then leaves with an injury. Great start to the week...

Not good news on Volquez, man this bullpen is going from under to over worked. The Reds are really having to battle injuries left and right. E5, Votto, Voltro, BP, Taveras. that's a lot of injuries to deal with.

Heard today that Yonder Alonso got promoted to AA.

Please give someone besides Homer Bailey the next start in 5 days.

Reds had a couple two out RBI hits to take the lead. Good inning.

I'd love to see Matt Maloney get a shot.

At this rate, I think Alonso has become a real possibility. I hope somebody else gets the call, but I think it's becoming possible. He went 3-4 with 3 RBI in his 1st AA game. 2 Doubles & drew a walk.

Chris Heisy has been putting up unbelievable #'s in AA Carolina.

Reds get off to a great start in the 1st game of this huge series.

Not exactly how I had imagined it, but a win is a win. Volquez left due to numbness in his hand. Hopefully it's not a big issue.

Pujols slid into 2nd awkwardly & twisted his ankle pretty good. He stayed in the game, but I'd expect him to have to take a game off this series.

Hopefully we can get another great start out of Bronson tomorrow & get the bullpen back on schedule.

George Grande is awful. He makes several mistakes a game, and rarely knows what he is talking about. Last night he talked about how Herrera had made his MLB debut against the Cardinals in Bush Stadium, and that he would always have a very special place for Bush Stadium in his heart. Wrong. I clearly remember Herrera making his debut against the Phillies in Philadelphia, and coming in with the bases loaded with nobody out, and not allowing a run. Also in the 5th or 6th inning the Reds were able to double up Rick Ankiel because he didn't retouch 2nd base after passing it on his way back to 1st. There was about 10 seconds of dead air, as it showed the Reds running off the field. Grande and Welsh obviously had no idea what had taken place.

George Grande's better days have passed, if he had better days. Of course he was on Sportscenter before it was cool.

As for the game, BIG win. Needed to stop the losing streak, and Lincoln and bullpen did just that. Need a quality start out of Arroyo tonight to saved those arms a little. I hope that Voltron hasn't seriously hurt himself. I've been waiting for someone to blame Dusty, I'm sure it's coming.

I like Welch but I believe Grande has drug him down. Welch used to try to cover his mistakes but now he just goes along with George. They did not know what happened when he did not re-tag the base. The interference call on Rosales a few games ago, they still had not figured it out when they come back from a commercial. You could clearly see the Ump point straight at Rosales. It wasn't that hard to figure out if you had any baseball experience. Last night when Hernandez went over and cut a ball off that was clearly Phillips and then threw it away, Grande and Welch made every excuse in the world and never once said Hernandez should have stayed at home and let the Gold Glove guy get it. I wonder if they have been told not to criticize the players because Marty gives them the business and the Reds will not touch Marty.

After last night, I think we can squash the overrated defensive shortstop talk. Gonzo is top shelf with the glove.

The play he made charging in and bare handing that ball was fantastic. Great stretch by the catcher err I mean 1B Hernandez. Amazing how well he is doing there.

Bruce in the 2 hole? He has been striking out way too much recently to be placed there, but maybe this will change his mindset and help him be more focused on making contact.
