How many titles did Jordan win at 24? Different stage, different era. That is something people have to keep in perspective. Not making any excuses for him as he was in the wrong, but he is still young and learning. Now if he does it again then we may have a problem.

In terms of place in the current state of NBA, Jordan was nowhere near the level of LeBron at age 24. That is what I am mean.

In general, I never have a problem with a player skipping a press conference, especially if it is a one-time thing or a rare thing. Would you have liked to be questioned by the media after that game (especially given what the line of questioning would have been like)?

 

As far as the hand-shake, other than the NFL and the end of NHL playoff series, pro teams RARELY shake hands. I think the media getting blown off caused them to make it a big deal because we all know when it come to the media, "their right to know supercedes our right to exist".

 

Given it's a rare misstep for LeBron (and a blown out of proportion one at that), I'd let this one slide.

I couldn't agree more. When the World Series is over, those teams NEVER shake hands. We watch the winners celebrate and we watch the losers sit in the dugout watching the winners celebrate. Every now and then NBA teams shake hands, heck, I was surprised the Lakers and Nuggets shook hands, but since when do we really pay attention to who is shaking whose hands hands.

 

I am also tired of hearing how LeBron disrespected the game. Seriously....is "the game" going to call him or write him a letter saying "LeBron, you dissed me, son. Why'd you play me like that." The game doesn't care about LeBron, only people who want LeBron to treat the game like they would are even upset about all of this. This isn't little league anymore where they have to line up and shake hands and get a snack. Can we get a little perspective please. The last thing I want to see out of my teammates after we lose a game is them lining up to go congratulate the other team.

 

I'll never like LeBron more than I like Kobe, but LBJ has always been my2nd favorite player and now that he is being vilified or not shaking hands, I love him even more now. I say who cares.......

He should watch the handshake line at the end of the Stanley Cup finals. Maybe he will learn a thing or two.

LeBron is in the spotlight 24/7 and almost always makes the right decision. I'm going to give him a pass for this one. I didn't like how he defended his actions though.

I don't think he should defend them. He didn't want to shake their hands, why should he apologize and act like he's sorry for it? Would I shake someones hand after a game? Yes. Would everyone? NO.

 

Many times people do it just because it will look bad if they don't. Though LeBron is a bit of a sore-loser, I applaud him for standing by his actions. He gave you his reasons, and I'm sure less people will like him because of it. He is only being who he is, an immature young man. I appreciate honesty, and like it or not, LeBron didn't shake their hands because he truly didn't want to.

 

I don't think you should do something just because it will look bad if you don't. People shake hands after games, go to church on Easter Sunday, etc. just because it's the "right" thing to do. While it's certainly not the way I would go about sports, I can't fault someone for not hiding the fact that he is a poor sport and a bad loser.
