That is a part of his responsibility; I believe he will be fined for that action. Isn't that a rule that you must do the post game interviews and pressers?

 

He should shake hands with the opposition as well.

Pretty sure they are obligated to some degree to talk to the media. I would say he is fined.

I could care less if he talks to the media, they still have a story..it will just be that he didn't talk to the media. But shake hands with the other team at the very least they wworked just as hard as he did this season for a chance to reach the finals.

A lot is being made of LeBron James walking off the floor last night after losing to the Magic in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. James did not speak to the media following the game, nor did he congratulate any of the Magic players on winning the Eastern Conference Title.

 

Should LeBron be chastised for his actions and be deemed petty and a sore loser? Or should nothing be made of it?

 

I feel it was extremely petty and showed a sign of immaturity. I love watching him on the court, but take it like a man when you lose. I didn't really think of it as a big deal when I thought all he had done was not speak to the media, but when I heard he didn't congratulate any of the Magic's players, that really irked me.

Second, I thought of how I didn't really want to shake the hands of the softball team who beat me tonight.:madman:

That was Jemele Hill's(writer for espn.com and frequent guest on the Sports Reporters) facebook status. I say of course Kobe would catch heat. Kobe never does anything right and when does, "he's trying to be like LeBron". I have been hearing that one a lot lately.

I don't think it is that big of a deal. He will catch heat because some members in the media have been waiting for LeBron to show some signs of being human so they can have the opportunity to chastise him. I like the passion and yes, it was immature and it didn't show sportsmanship, but if not for the media, we never would have known he didn't shake hands and say congratulations. I hate losing in the same manner and if my son is around, I'll be a good sport, but if my son isn't around, I probably won't shake your hand when you beat me either. Losing is awful.

 

Also, his teammates should be happy he even rode the bus with them. He needs a long summer break so his body will recover from carrying them the whole series.

He is going through the Post Shaq Kobe Bryant stage. The stage when it doesn't matter what you do your teammates just aren't good enough to pick up the slack.

 

I really wanted to see Kobe teach LeBron a thing or two in the finals, but I'll take home court advantage any day. Maybe next year......

I don't think LeBron is going to say anything to that effect. Does this mean that Kobe is once again far and away better than LeBron again? I'm not a Cavaliers fan and I'm not making excuses. But he had one of the best series in NBA playoff history, he won two games by himself and kept them in 3 of the 4 he lost. Did he play mistake free basketball? No. Does none of the blame get laid at his feet? No, he should get his fair share. But he also plays with a team, that, without him, would have been battling the Kings for the most Ping Pong balls in the lottery. I don't think many NBA greats past or present could have done much better than LeBron did. But that's just me.

 

 

Kobe is not far and away better than LeBron. Kobe has a better team than LeBron. LeBron should get no blame whatsoever for anything in the Magic series. He gave his all and because of him the Cavs didn't get swept. I do think he still has some more things to learn and put into his game, but when you average 40-7-7 and your team loses, it isn't your fault.

HT- Actually the Players dont have to according to the NBA, but the coaches do. Only reason I know this is I heard Reggie Miller talking about it on the DP show one day.

 

He should of talked to the press, and not acted like a sore loser after the loss. LJ wants the title of "king" of the NBA well he needs to act like it, IMO.

I don't have a problem with him not speaking to the media, but I do feel he should have participated in the post game handshakes with the Magic.

I have thought about this all weekend, and I am not as upset as others are that he did not shake hands. I am glad he showed some emotion and frustration that he was irritated. Was it a selfish thing to do? Yes, but for some reason I liked it. Nothing makes me more mad as when these guys lose a series and then they are all chummy with one another goofing around. Good to see some passion. Obviously the right thing to do would be to shake these guys hands, but he didn't.

 

Speaking to the media on the other hand is an obligation these guys have. Ask BCG :lol: He had time to cool off after the game to answer questions.

Lebron showed a lot of immaturity, IMO. If you want to win and be the biggest star in the NBA, you better learn how to lose like the biggest star in the NBA.

I think he should be held accountable for being childish about the loss. He is great player, and honestly normally a class act. This was a situation where he was very upset because his team had just choked away a golden oppurtunity to make it to the NBA Finals. It's really hard to get there and you got to take advantage of it when you can.

 

That being said, he makes a lot money to do things like talk to the press. And he owes it to his fans too, I'm sure he knows he made the wrong decision and would do different given the chance.

It is a clear double standard on that one. In this case, LeBron should catch heat, and from listening to the radio this morning he has caught a fair amount. Kobe would've caught more, which is unfair.
