NCAA allegations on D. Rose at Memphis

Featured Replies

If someone took the test for him at his school how would Cal know anything about it? I doubt Rose told him, hey I got this guy to take my SAT for me. That is what all indications are as to what happened.

Nevertheless, who was the head coach of Memphis at the time Rose played? Calipari.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Just makes me wonder how many things this guy will be linked to before UK fans admit maybe it's all a bit skeptical.

That's like saying that it's Obama's fault that some of his appointments didn't like to pay their taxes.

If the kid cheated on his SAT while in high school, and Cal had no knowledge of it how does that reflect bad on him.

If it is found that Cal had a hand in helping Rose cheat on the SAT or knew about it and turned a blind eye than he should be punished by the NCAA accordingly. But he can't be with every player ever minute of the day or even prior to them stepping on campus.

You can wonder all you want but Rose wasn't at Memphis when this happened. The NCAA cleared him to play what else could a coach do no matter who it was?

And I never said that. I just think it's funny that this is twice that Cal is linked...

IMO, this is all much ado about nothing unless they can show that Cal had knowledge or was involved in any way. Besides if you win enough it won't matter what type or rummors exist about alleged abuses under your watch. Just ask John Wooden.

The allegations involve more than Rose and not taking the SAT.

The other stuff is very minor and would likely not lead to any penalties.

I don't know this looks pretty serious to me, and something a Head Coach would have to know about:

from ESPN.com:

Memphis and Calipari could be in the clear on that if this was a Windy City inside job.

But there's another alleged violation at Memphis that should be more troubling for the school and potentially for Calipari: the failure by "an associate" of a (cough) student-athlete (cough) to pay for multiple trips on the team plane and stays at the team hotel. (Reports have named the "associate" as Derrick Rose's brother, Reggie, who handled most of the recruitment of his younger sibling.) The trips cost a total of more than $2,200, and there's no way to believe Calipari didn't know who was on the plane or at the team hotel.

The whole ordeal is pretty serious, any time you are talking about re-writing the history books it's a big deal. If the final four banner comes down, that is a huge black eye that will never go away.

You think all thats been on here, on TV, and in the paper, I did not know that? The test score is the big problem here for someone.

And that would quickly go away with a check to cover the expenses.

I hate this.

It just doesn't look good on Memphis, Rose, Cal or UK.

Maybe so, but why hasn't it been done and why don't other schools do it. A lot of odd things going on, like Evan's brother getting a job there this year. The whole Evans saga is another can of worms that is a disturbing story too.

This isn't a shot at UK at all, but Memphis has had a dark cloud hanging over it for a while, and most felt like things like this were going on. Now there is proof.

From what I've read this seems to be either 1 or 2 trips on the plane and room(s). He apparently went on most or all trips and there were only 1 or 2 occasions the money wasn't paid back either b/c he never received the bill or forgot to pay it. If in fact it isn't rare for people to travel w/ the team and pay the school back it becomes a non issue when the money is paid back. If the issues were so big why does Memphis think they will get no sanctions?

What I read was that the brother was billed for the ride and simply didn't pay the bill.
