May 19, 200917 yr I thought Williams was already gone? You're right, but nothing official has been announced. 17 guys on the roster (Williams & Wall included) as of today. That means we have to trim 4. I think it's a given that Williams & Stewart are gone. Two more, in addition to that pair, will either have to be cut loose or given walk-on status. I think it's likely to be two of the following: Harrellson, Liggins, Galloway, Pilgrim, Harris.
May 19, 200917 yr I hope Pilgrim doesn't leave, he will be a beast this season if his pick up games are any indication I'm sorry but even Ervin Stepp looked great at EKU in pick up games a Begley.
May 19, 200917 yr Donald Williams could stay as a walk on but his scholarship will not be renewed. That is one. AJ Stewart, while he could have success in Cal's system will likely look elsewhere. Calipari really liked Harrellson but the big guy may see the writing on the wall. He couldn't beat Stevenson out for PT this year and he sure won't beat out Pat, Stevenson, Orton, and Cousins. There will be your third player gone. If Meeks stays in the draft, Harrellson may stay if Pilgrim doesn't make the grade. If Meeks comes back, Liggins or Pilgrim will be gone.
May 19, 200917 yr Any possibility that Cal talks Liggins into redshirting this year and then coming back for his sophomore season the year after with a year of practicing in his system. What is the rule for scholarship players that redshirt...does their schollys county toward that years team...I would think that they would...but just curious. Would also give Liggins time to get his grades on par which from what I hear could be his downfall at the end of this semester.
May 19, 200917 yr My thoughts... 1. Williams 2. Stewart 3. Harrelson 4. Harris, as he would probably never see the floor next season
May 19, 200917 yr You are all selling Ramon short. THe past two years he's had to shoulder more load than his talent will allow. But stick him on the floor with 4 other very talented players and I think you'll see that he will be an asset to the Cats. Ramon will see the floor and will contribute if health concerns don't cause him to not play. I think Ramon deserves a bit more respect and loyalty from Cats fans than he's getting. He never once didn't play hard, he never once brought disrespect to UK. He's represented us well and deserves more from some so called UK fans than he is getting. He can't be blamed that the previous two coaches surrounded him with mediocre players. I'm as excited about Coach Cal as anyone. But we don't cast aside those who have been productive and loyal just because......

If it hadn't been for lots of mediochre talent being recruited, Harris wouldn't be at UK. I thought that Harris was the worst player in UK's rotation last year. I don't think he is going anywhere, but I don't see him getting many minutes next year except for the fact there will be lots more mop up time.
May 19, 200917 yr From everything I have heard and read on Pilgrim I wouldn't mind seeing what he's got in a game atmosphere. However, Pilgrim is kind of like his own version of Zeppelins "What is and what should never be." May have been a freak in practice, but your now playing behind the likes of Patterson, Cousins, Orton, and Stevenson, and talented post guys are going to keep coming in. All Cal has to go by on MP is a few Hampton tapes with virtually no play in it at all and a few minutes of blue/white scrimmage from last year. So although I would hate to see him go, (especially after already having to sit out a year) Pilgrims shot at getting major minutes at Kentucky went out the door when Gillespie did. Best wishes and the most of luck to those who are unfortunate to get cut. However, in reality going to an institution that fits who leaves may be the best thing each could do for their careers.
May 19, 200917 yr Oh and BTW, although I hate it for the student athletes involved, what kind of feeling is it to know we now have so much talent that one or two possible starters from next seasons team could now be gone and without a scholly. Wow. :scared:
May 20, 200917 yr I read and heard that Harris will not be leaving, all seniors who want to stay will have their scholly's honored, this was from Mitch Barnhart.
