This was a fun game to watch. Both teams play a pretty exciting brand of basketball and it made for a good game.

 

First off hats off to Christian County they played a nice game and played hard the whole game. #11 for CC is a freaking speed demon with the ball in his hands. He gave the dawgs fits several times with his quickness. If there is a player faster than him in the tournament I wanna see him.

 

Thought the dawgs looked pretty good but it could have been better. They seemed to come out a little gun shy and afraid to push the ball and attack the press. Not sure what the game plan was but I thought they played right into Christian County's press by slowing the ball down. They did a little to much dribbling against it and not enough passing and they didnt attack the middle of the press at all which is where you need to beat it at. They would dribble up the court a little and then instead of looking ahead they passed the ball backwards into the press. I thought they made the press harder on themselves than it should have been.

 

CC was said to be a running team and they were but I thought Holmes could have out ran them and beat them at their own game if they wanted too. After Christian County scored the first 4 points of the second half I thought the dawgs showed a glimpse of what they could do when they really want to push it. They were up 32-30 and then they went on a nice run where they just pushed the ball hard offensively up and down the court and really got after it on defense and boom they were up 40-30 just like that and CC called a timeout. Thought they were going to run away with it at that point. After the timeout tho Holmes went back to slowing it down and not attacking like they were and I thought it kept CC in the game.

 

IMO Ricardo Johnson is the best player in the tournament. That kid is so money and can really carry this team when he needs too. Hats off to Housely as well he played a great game. His dunk over the CC defender was nasty.

 

 

Housley being a SR could be the x factor in this tournament. If they can get great play from him and JJ to compliment Elijah and Rico as well as Riley at the PG position they should bring the crown back to NKY.

Housely, JJ, and Riley all stepped up pretty big today to help Rico. Pittman struggled but some of it was due to foul trouble in first half. He had a sick block shortly after Housely's slam. Pittman skyed up and pretty much cuffed the shot and tossed it. I didnt believe TezzyRice when he used to say Pittman played above the square but he might have gotten up to the top of the square on that one. Kid was up there.

Nice win for Holmes. They were very impressive. I look for them and Eastern to face off Sat. night.

A lot of people confuse defense and tempo control ... in this case, I suspect it's more of the latter.

I know his mom and I am sure she is proud.

When he turned the corner, I said dunk it, I didn't think the defender was going to jump, that made the dunk even sweeter, plus he got fouled, and most importantly, he made the free throw. Was easily the play of the day.

 

I was impressed with Holmes, it's the first time I have seen them. I look forward to the next game. I hope they handle the press a little better tomorrow than they did today. I thought Rico was the best player on the court today as well. I think if they get the offensive output from Pittman, that no one will beat them. They are long and fast. Riley is a heck of a shooter. they are a real complete team and I believe someone said it earlier, that they should bring it home unless they have an off night or if their opposing team just plays spectacularly. Holmes is a great team.

Double Double for Ricardo Johnson. Despite all the hype about Pittman, Rico is the best player for Holmes. He is a Mr. Basketball candidate next year. He's a BCS D1 level recruit. Size, athleticism, skill...just a complete ball player.

Man, you're giving some NKY people a bad name. You do this is just about every thread regarding Holmes. I am a huge Holmes fan, but I'm not trying to rub it in anyones face..

I like how they run offense. Christian Co. is a good team and matched up against anyone else they probably advance. Good game and Holmes is the real deal.

Billy G just gave a scholly to Konner Tucker a non-athletic 6'3 swinguard which is a joke, we already have one non-productive guard in Porter. I hope Rico goes to XU and stays local to NKY.
