Let's not act like Brown was doing it all himself. There was usually a defender waiting to provide help from other block as Boone was sitting in a 2-3 zone. Just watched the highlights on ICN 6 from the game and the few times Pittman was matched up one on one with Brown, he got the ball and converted.

I agree completely. Like I said in an earlier post, it was acombination of Pittman not working hard, Bc keeping a man sagged and shaded to his side, and adequate D by Brown. For being 6' Brown did a good job guarding the much bigger Pittman, but it was by no means a one man effort.

There were a few times to the untrained eye it would have also appeared they were in a 2-3 to start a possession. Then Holmes would finally actually move and it was revealed as a man to man...

Congrads to Cov-Holmes on beating a very good Boone County team. The object of the game is out scoring your opponent, every single time you outscore the other team you win! There is NOT a limit on how many points you have to score to win.

Here's a good strategy question: IF IF IF the short shot went in with 11 seconds to play and Boone goes up 31-30 with only four fouls, what would you have done if you were Coach Henley? Coach McQueary? Always trying to learn for the future.

Holmes has to bring the ball the entire length of the floor. Lets assume Coach Henley wants to put it in Rico's hands. I'd run another player at him to force him to pass. I'd have McFarland fronting Pittman. I'd have Spaulding on Riley.

 

I'd take my chances with that.

I think this could turn out to be an interesting match up to see if Holmes gets caught up in EC's style of play. I don't think that it would be a bad thing, but not sure that is what Coach Henley wants. If this game actually happens it will be fun to watch.

 

You both realize, that there are a few teams that both teams will have to beat, before they face each other! EC, you guys had a ton of trouble with the CovCath "D" last year at LexCath and the Holmes "D" is better, so be very careful with what you wish for!

To be honest, this was a dreadfully painful came to watch until a minute left in it. Holmes offense just doesn't produce. Yes, Boone played great defense, that's not question. But with the talent Holmes has, they should have scored more than 32 points. Passing/dribbling around the perimeter won't get it done down state. I thought Ricardo Johnson played well and Pittman, when he actually PLAYS, is a force. The problem is, this team has not improved throughout the year..and I feel like their trip might be a short one. They need to pick it up. Keep up the defense, but need a better game plan on offense.

 

Hats off to Boone. You all played well and had the chance to take it, and it just didn't fall your way. Nothing to hang your heads about. To the kid [#24] who missed the layup, you played a great game, and it happens to the best!

 

Good luck to Holmes down state, and I hope you all can bring a championship home to the 9th.

Did any of you people watch the Beechwood district game? I believe they tried to push the ball against Holmes and all it got them was a runnerup and a 21 point loss and still scoring only 42. First round of the state they play Christian Co. who won their region scoring 95 but giving up 82. Do you think Christian Co. will play a deliberate style game? I don't think so.

What was wrong with J. Johnson tonight? He seemed upset or mad about something? Can someone fill me in if you can.
