Holmes 32 Boone County 29

Featured Replies

If you weren't rooting for either team this was simply freaking dreadful to watch.

When the WINNING team barely hits 20 by the end of the 3rd....YUCK.

With that, congrats to the Dogs.

Boone/Holmes is a 50/50 proposition. They're dead even.

Dead even with Holmes going to state. :idunno:

I think it was more strategy by both teams that kept Pittman in check in the first half. Holmes did not move on offense and BC had one of their big guys guarding JJ (I may be mistaken) to sag off and prevent the pass to the middle. Pittman just stood on the block and didn't work for the ball.

I would love to see a team like Holmes run a Princeton style offense with the athletes that they have, but there was no movement at all.

I agree 100%. The way some make it sound, Brown was down there doing the defense all by himself.

Great win Dawgs getting back to the Sweet... Play your game and we'll win it... Play like we did for for 90 % of the game tonight and it will be a short trip... I plan to be in Lexington as we cut down the nets, not seeing another team in the paper doing it. Let's go!

I know Holmes has the reputation of "running and gunning" but that simply is not what they do. They win with defense and have the best D Holmes has put on the floor in quite a while.

I was sitting by a 10th region guy tonite who thought it would be high scoring. I told him we wouldn't see 50 by either team. I didn't realize how bad my prediction would be.

I'm not talking about running and gunning Holmes doesn't attack the basket at all. Yes they defend but if you don't score you don't win!

Let's not act like Brown was doing it all himself. There was usually a defender waiting to provide help from other block as Boone was sitting in a 2-3 zone. Just watched the highlights on ICN 6 from the game and the few times Pittman was matched up one on one with Brown, he got the ball and converted.

I agree completely. Like I said in an earlier post, it was acombination of Pittman not working hard, Bc keeping a man sagged and shaded to his side, and adequate D by Brown. For being 6' Brown did a good job guarding the much bigger Pittman, but it was by no means a one man effort.

Can't wait to meet the 16th :taz:, you have not seen a team like the Bulldogs. Guarantee EC don't score what they are used to. :thumb::popcorn:

You better hope they don't score much over half what their used to. The Bulldogs haven't all year!:jump:

How in the world can you win a regional championship scoring 32 points????????????

32-2  It's called defense. You will see, if your team made it :idunno:

Nevermind...

Holmes wins the region championship and people continue to try and find negatives about their team and players. :ohbrother::rolleyes:

Holmes has avenged BOTH of their losses this year...32-2 speaks for itself.

100% on the money. There were several possesions where BC players didn't even LOOK at the rim because Holmes is so active around the ball.

Absolutely correct.

Doesn't mean they're not even.

I can't imagine anyone disputing that.

As far as the great defense thing goes, it would be impressive if the score was like 60-29, that would indicate great defense for sure but 32-29 to me just says that this game was played at an incredibly slow pace. I still think Holmes is a really good team but I think people are giving them a little too much credit for the defense.

Never claimed otherwise. Was just impressed with how hard Brown worked when given an assignment that was an obvious mismatch...

No, I think youre misunderstanding. Everyone wants to see them bring home the championship. They are now "our" team. CovCath lost a couple weeks ago. I'm now rooting for Holmes. I came tonight to root for Holmes. But if they play like they have been, they just aren't going to do much damage, that's a fact.
