Holmes 32 Boone County 29

Featured Replies

Here's a good strategy question: IF IF IF the short shot went in with 11 seconds to play and Boone goes up 31-30 with only four fouls, what would you have done if you were Coach Henley? Coach McQueary? Always trying to learn for the future.

Deja vu. Feels like you or someone else has made this argument over and over. I think everyone agrees when Pittman REALLY wants to, he is a monster. Unfortunately he doesn't always come to play for whole games at a time. The whole team needs to pick it up on offense, not just him, but right now I agree he'd probably get eaten up by a D1 defender.

Did you notice he played 32 minutes tonight?

No, I think youre misunderstanding. Everyone wants to see them bring home the championship. They are now "our" team. CovCath lost a couple weeks ago. I'm now rooting for Holmes. I came tonight to root for Holmes. But if they play like they have been, they just aren't going to do much damage, that's a fact.

Considering they gave up an average of 34 ppg (well below all three of their opponents averages), I'll take the way they're playing defense right now any day of the week. Holmes continues to win, despite all of the negatives that people point out after EVERY Holmes W.

I understand how many minutes he played. That does not mean he "came to play" for an entire game. When he actually plays, like I said, he is a force.

I think this could turn out to be an interesting match up to see if Holmes gets caught up in EC's style of play. I don't think that it would be a bad thing, but not sure that is what Coach Henley wants. If this game actually happens it will be fun to watch.

That is "IF" EC gets by Mason Co. or Shelby Valley and I do believe one of those teams already beat EC once.

And I've said, if they can continue this defense, which I think they can, but get some type of offense and better offensive game plan, then I think they'll continue to win. If their offense doesn't pick up, nope it just won't happen. I'm in agreement with you about their defense, no need to get defensive.

Holmes wins the region championship and people continue to try and find negatives about their team and players. :ohbrother::rolleyes:

People are pointing out the negatives on Pittman, because they are supporting their dispute to your post about being a D1 player.

The negatives about the team comes out from people just seeing a score, and not the game, or the fact that they haven't watched many Holmes' games this year other than tonight. We can all agree they have a good team with great talent, and I think we can agree that they're going to need a little more offensive output to win state.

Yes, the defense was great. There were very few, if any, uncontested shots in the game, including the miss at the end by Brown. He was in traffic surrounded by shot blockers, that makes you rush and changes your shot a little. And how many other shots were missed in that possession? Everyone always remembers the last miss but Boone had 3 or 4 shots in the last 30 seconds and just could not get it to go down. Let's not forget ALL those misses in the last 30 seconds and let's also remember Andrew Brown would have been the tourney MVP if Boone won.

But back to the game and defenses. There were quite a few missed shots under the basket by both teams throughout the game. The refs let them play (thank you) so nothing was easy. Holmes missed several pull up jumpers in the first half. Rico Johnson can get a shot any time he wants and hit it. But he is the only player who could do that tonight against the tough D. Holmes is not going to go far down state with the offense I see them playing right now. I wish they would and there is so much athletic ability on the team. I just don't see it happening.

Exciting game tonight. Congrats to Boone on absolutely getting the most out of your talent this year. Congrats to Holmes on fighting through attitude issues and all the other challenges on and off the court to make it a three peat. You are everyone in region nine's team now so shut us doubters up, keep proving it and go get a title.

32-2

32-3....33-3 finito....at best:D

I'm surprised no-one has made comments about the refs tonight.
