Holmes 32 Boone County 29

Not the most exciting game to watch. Great win for Holmes and i wish them luck down at rupp!

Ricardo Johnson is finally stepping up to be Holmes main guy, I think he should of done that from the begining of the season. He is going to be the key, he is Holmes best player and IMO a matchup problem for every team in the state. If there is anyone that can shut him down please let me know!

Every one keeps dogging on their offense, and yes there offense doesn't seem as good a could be. I think they just need a break out offensive game (perhaps first round at the sweet sixteen) and then I think the offensive will start firing on all cylinders.

Holmes has to be the best defensive team in the state. I noticed many times NCC and Boone would pass the ball back and forth along the perimeter, not knowing what to do against Holmes size and length. You would think a team like Holmes with all the dunkers they have, they would be more motivated on offense, but ill take their motivation on defense anyday.

To everyone on here who is wishing Holmes to crash and burn, Holmes is still winning and is once again one step closer to winning a state title! Good luck Holmes Bulldogs!

Congrats to Holmes. WOW! What a defensive battle - I mean battle. Holmes plays the best defense in the state and Boone is not too far behind. I really thought the Rebs would win by 3, but, hey, that's why they play the games.:D I hope that Andrew holds his head high and realizes how well he played in the tourney. Everyone misses bunnies and short putts some times. The 3 main contributing seniors will definitely be missed - Steven, Andrew and Cory played their hearts out like every player that took the floor for both teams. Best wishes to the Holmes Bulldogs. You have what it takes to win at Rupp and I hope that everyone in the 9th region climbs on your wagon. The naysayers don't realize just how these 9th region teams get after it on defense. Great defense combined with refs who let both teams hammer each other all night long led to what would have to be an all-time low-scoring championship game up here, maybe in the whole state.

:thumb: Great post SS.

How fun would it be to watch these two teams press each other and run up and down all game? I don't think many people realize how many athletes were out there tonight.

Speaking of Cotton, why didn't Holmes run at him when he received his 2nd personal foul early in the 1st, especially when the Boone Coach left him in the game. I was waiting for Holmes to get that 3rd PF on him real quick....

You aren't giving any credit where it is due on that side of the ball and that is Boone's defense. Holmes was just as clueless on attacking it as the Rebels were on the other end.

Cotton hasn't been mentioned much in this thread, but he played very well tonight. He hit some big mid range jumpers.

I agree. Cotton has really improved his game from last year. He is not only their best athlete, but at times is their best player on the floor IMO. He gets overshadowed by Mcfarland A LOT. He will be a top 5 or 6 player in NKY next year IMO. I think he and Gabbard are Boone's two best juniors.

Good question. I remember him picking up the second, but didn't check to see if they switched him to another man. Anybody remember?

If Holmes plays Elliott they will have over 30 at the half....Elliott simply chases the ball on defense. They do not lock you up.

EC doesn't want to waste time and effort on D. Lets get it and go.

Yup. They both are in that top group of players in NKY for next year.

By the way, these two will be #1 and #2 next year as well.

I was wondering the same thing.

I heard that Ryan Popp for Boone is transfering is this true?

and where to?

I think they did once while he had two fouls, but instead of getting a blocking foul they called a charge on Holmes. They mentioned it on the radio about how it was pretty bold move for him to make that play with 2 fouls. Think they called a charge on Rice.

I don't remember that. Did Rice even play in the first half? That would have been early and I know Housley and Mayfield got in before Kevon.
