For tez and/or other Holmes insiders, what was J. Johnson all ticked off about at the end of the game? He didn't celebrate with the team on the floor. He went over to the bench and sat down with a towel over him while his team was celebrating a region title. I think anyone watching that perhaps got some insight into the issues Henley has to deal with. The ironic thing is, JJ gets named to the all tournament team. That seemed to perk him up a little but he still was moping around. So what was he upset about?

 

I think it was because he lost his gum.

I would like to see the replay of the timeout they gave Holmes down on the baseline. The kid obviously travelled before calling timeout, but was he standing out of bounds when he signaled the timeout? :confused:

How do you know he wasn't yelling timeout to the ref?

Brown is an excellent rebounder. Earls probably gets up an down the floor a little better. Montgomery might be the closest to McFarland in all-around skills and size, but I don't think he has the vision that McFarland does yet. I agree that Popp is a much better player than only a minute or few minutes a game.

 

Was Montgomery the kid that had the same build as Mcfarland and same hair color? He looked younger, but could dunk with ease in warm ups.

I agree that Boone could have used a little more outside shooting to open things up. Popp and Gabbard complement one another. Both are penetrators and can shoot from outside. Boone's offense went from relying too heavily on the three this year to not utilizing it quite enough IMO.

You can't argue with the success that they had though. If I had to guess, I'd say Popp lost his playing time because of the defensive side of the ball.

ATM was using exaggeration to stress the point. When you are on the floor there is no pivot foot. If you momentum carries you after you slide its legal regardless of how far you slide.

The one with the Holmes player calling a time out was the worst call of the game, he was standing out of bounds and called a time out. May have been the worst call I've EVER seen at a game.

 

I think the refs made several really, really bad calls toward the end of the third quarter, but I also don't think that it impacted the game over all, very evenly matched teams. I like Andrew Brown's play and attitude and I like #33 from Holmes attitude and play.

What I mean is that there were bad calls on both sides, they weren't worse for one team or the other. It was either teams game to win (or lose).

Interesting game to watch! Also, Hopefully next week Holmes plays hard until the buzzer sounds, notice in one of the pics in this thread on the final shot? Players already celebrating as the final shot was launched by Boone, and it almost went in!

 

Even though the ref's made a few bad calls, I agree with those who said that one timeout should not have been, but the refs did not decide this game! Boone had a few chances at the end to win and or take it into OT.

 

I also think that the refs letting the teams play is a good thing, as has been mentioned in the past 9th region teams are used to games being called very tight, not so at the Sweet 16.

Maybe because of height? Popp finished in the top 3 in NKY in steals despite not starting/playing much the last 10 games or so.
