Again, let's be thankful that the KIDS have this opportunity to play in a great facility to help prepare them for what will hopefully be a state title run. Nobody is forcing us to pay to go to these games. We do it out of love for the sport and because of our dedication to these young men that provide us excitement for 2 hours by giving it their all to accomplish every young athlete's dream...winning a state title. Nothing is going to be perfect, regardless of where the tournament is held, so let's just sit back and enjoy it while it lasts, rather than continually focusing on the negatives.

Great post.:thumb: It is not the GRC fans and Montgomery Co fans that are complaining.... and we have the longest trip to make. But on the other hand we are used to traveling to the regional tourney. :thumb:

 

As I stated before I am really looking forward to attending the tourney in such a great arena. Great opportunity for all teams involved, and will help prepare them for state.

I for one enjoyed traveling to Montgomery Co 3 nights in a row for the 10th region Volleyball tournament last fall . Great venue and of course our school won the tournament . Which made the drive much easier.

Wasn't talking about Mason's team last year. We were discussing the price of the tourney tickets, gas, traveling and food.

I think you can talk to several across the region and it would be the same concern about the cost to an average family. Again I am just speaking for those that have the concerns and voicing an opinion. Whatever those want to label it fine, they are entitled to their opinion. I think if its any indication of some of the pictures I have seen from the tournament being held there this week of the attendance and lack thereof, then my thoughts are very well supported that cost will be a factor to the average fan wanting to attend.

Yes you did travel last year....that is one year out of 39....Yes you did not have to travel for 39 years....that is alot of gas money.

Cost is always a factor every ballgame played throughout the year. Five dollars is too much for games but everyone charges about that and you go or don't go. It has been mentioned all year about where are the students this year, even at Mason Co. I believe. Is it cost or non interest? I live closer to the fieldhouse than BOK. I will be going Saturday and attend the games for 12 dollars which I think is a bargain. I would not be going to all of them if they were at MC and have to pay 5 dollars a game and drive two different nights to attend. The semi's and finals will have better attendance than first round games, no different than at MC, so everyone go and have a good time and enjoy some basketball.:thumb:

I agree with you on having all first round games on the same day. Wait a minute, did we agree on something? Enjoy the games!

I don't think the BOK management wants to be in the high school basketball business, because there just isn't any (or enough) money in it for them. Purely an assumption on my part, but I think they were kind of forced to accept the initial agreements based on all the conjecture that got the arena built. It was suppossed to be a showplace for all of NKY, and events such as this would be great fits there. Seems as though they (arena mangement) bit the bullet and are hosting, but not being very neighborly about it. Again, just my assumption, but they seem pretty bent on squeezing every dollar they can get out of the people whose taxes built the arena.

 

And it's been my experience that whoever is training these ushers or whatever they are, is using the old Cincinnati Reds approach from the Riverfront Stadium days. Horrible PR move on their part. Sell the arena, be friendly and helpful until you absolutely CAN't be anymore. If you can't do that, go get a job that doesn't involve dealing with the paying public.

That said, I think the BOK is a great facility, and an asset to both the university and the region in general. I hope the management group running the facility works hard to allow it to be the gem it could be. I fear greed will prevent that from happening.

I know many people who had to work, kids had homework etc that came to the second game only and missed the first quarter. They weren't happy at all considering they could only make it to one game and it cost $8.

I saw the article in the Enquire this morning. I thought it was nice of Kim Banta to purchase the tickets from the water vending machine proceeds and give them to the students/faculty.
