5-14 shooting tells me the outcome would have been the same with Calathes taking the last shot.

In the Florida game that your hero won for you, he finished 7/19 shooting, 3/10 from 3FG. I think he hit his last 2-3 shots, so he "seemed" to be the right guy, right?

Like I said he may be the best in the SEC but the numbers tell a different story.

The numbers actually tell the story pretty darned well.

It appears ESPN might not agree with you either, on their homepage they have a poll question on who had the best performance Saturday, the list includes Griffin, Thabeet and Meeks...

And both of those other performances were better than Meeks' yesterday.....a 40/20 game, another darned near triple double with BLOCKS, and a 20 reb game?

And both of those other performances were better than Meeks' yesterday.....a 40/20 game, another darned near triple double with BLOCKS, and a 20 reb game?

And also better than your boy Nick, correct? :notworthy:

Jodie Meeks - 25.8 ppg - 3.7 rpg, a/to ratio is almost -2 / 1.....

Nick Calathes - 18.6 ppg - 5.52 rpg, 6.56 apg, ratio 2/1....

Meeks shoots 48% (44% from 3), 88% FT

Calathes shoots 50.7% (41.5% from 3), 70.6% FT

Very interesting.

Very interesting indeed…

Yesterday's numbers

Calathes 36% from the field (worst % on Florida’s team yesterday)

33% from the three point line

57% from the FT line

Meeks70% from the field (34% better than Calathes)

58% on three's (25% better)

57% from FT line (same)

Calathes proved again today, his #1 ranking as the SEC's top player..imo

I agree, very interesting?

I agree 100% both Griffin and Thabeet had better games. But what does that have to do with this?

Calathes proved again today, his #1 ranking as the SEC's top player..imo

BTW Calathes no longer has a triple double, he is now credited with 9 reb's...

Calathes is just better than Meeks all around. Downey is also unbelievable, but no Calathes or Meeks.

Calathes proved again today, his #1 ranking as the SEC's top player..imo

They lost to Georgia, previously 0-9 in conference.

Meeks won and Calathes lost. I think with all things being similar thats what it comes down to. But its hard to argue with you, after you being happy that Duke was able to play with UNC for a while even though they lost.

He accounted for 42 points (at worst).....not too bad, if he had been given the opportunity on the last play, he could've won it. You guys, need to seperate yourselves from your fandom, and then look at it. Patrick Patterson IS likely the best player in the SEC, but in regards to POY, my vote would be with Calathes right now.

That is really funny. If the voting were today Meeks would and should win in a landslide. Also, like someone else pointed out he might be a 1st team All American. Calathes will not be close. Calathes is very good, but Meeks is the better player and he's having the better year. I'd still say Downey is better than Calathes.

They're close. You could claim either guy as tops in the conference. Neither is clearly better...

Yesterday was a prime example of why Meeks deserves POY over Calathes. Meeks has the ability to carry a team to victory. This is the 3rd or 4th time he has single handily won a game for U.K. Yet again, Calathes puts up a huge game to only lose to a horrible Georgia team.

Meeks. Period.

They're close. You could claim either guy as tops in the conference. Neither is clearly better...

I'm saying Meeks is the best player in the SEC. I also think Meeks will be a finalist for National POY and a first team All-American :thumb:

Calathes is a first-team All SEC player, but he isn't in the running for national first-team. That should be the end of the argument, IMO.

I just wanted to run this thought by everyone again. Meeks should be a first team All-American. Its hard to argue against that.:isurrender:

I really don't think the conference POY is going to be a landslide, in fact I think that many of you might be disappointed in the results. Lastly, you state that Meeks is a better player than Calathes, and I say no way. I will concede that Jodie is a better scorer, but that's relly the ONLY advantage he has.
