Calathes-16pts (5-14), 10reb's, 13ast, 3to's and 4stls

Meeks-45pts (17-24), 7reb's, 2ast, 3to's and 3stl's

Who do you think will be the SEC player of the week with those lines? My money is on Meeks...

So did Meeks 45 Points (on 17-24 shooting), 7 Rebounds, 2 Assist, 3 Steal game hurt his own case?

I'm not saying Calathes isn't the best player in the SEC but his performance today is a far cry from proving anything.

That's my stance as well...

I'm saying Meeks is the best player in the SEC. I also think Meeks will be a finalist for National POY and a first team All-American :thumb:

Calathes is a first-team All SEC player, but he isn't in the running for national first-team. That should be the end of the argument, IMO.

I previously voted for Patterson. With Meeks playing the game he did today, without another legitimate threat on the floor, speaks volumes to me.

Those lines are a lot closer than you would like to think they are, couple that with Calathes' performance earlier this week, and it could be very interesting.

The only stat Calathes dominated was asst and he should have more. He's a PG. But 16pts on 5-14 shooting just isn't good. Plus Florida lost, and lost to a bad UGA team. And maybe if Calathes hadn't shot so much when it's obvious he was off maybe they win.

He accounted for 42 points (at worst).....not too bad, if he had been given the opportunity on the last play, he could've won it. You guys, need to seperate yourselves from your fandom, and then look at it. Patrick Patterson IS likely the best player in the SEC, but in regards to POY, my vote would be with Calathes right now.

If a frog had wings....

I understand an argument for Calathes. Hes having a great year and playing bery well. But to say that the UK fans are just picking Meeks because hes our player and not because of his unbelievable year is way off base. He has carried Kentucky at times. He carried UK to a win over Florida towards the end and carried them yesterday as well. You want to talk about how great Calathes has been. It would be a joke to give him SEC player of the week with him being 0-2. Meeks was 2-0. Thats more important than the other numbers.

5-14 shooting tells me the outcome would have been the same with Calathes taking the last shot. And like it or not Calathes had a chance to send the UK game into overtime and didn't get it done.

Like I said he may be the best in the SEC but the numbers tell a different story.

Jodie Meeks - 25.8 ppg - 3.7 rpg, a/to ratio is almost -2 / 1.....

Nick Calathes - 18.6 ppg - 5.52 rpg, 6.56 apg, ratio 2/1....

Meeks shoots 48% (44% from 3), 88% FT

Calathes shoots 50.7% (41.5% from 3), 70.6% FT

Very interesting.

Surprise, Surprise. Maybe your biased opinion causes YOU to see things differently. :idunno: Just a thought.

Much like you need to put your disdain for UK aside. I have already stated that Calathes may be the best player in the SEC, I have no problem with that, but when you say that Calathes’ performance yesterday proved why he is the best when on the same day Meeks scores 45 (breaking the scoring record in Ark’s arena) your going get called on it.

It appears ESPN might not agree with you either, on their homepage they have a poll question on who had the best performance Saturday, the list includes Griffin, Thabeet and Meeks...
