I don't think he has nearly the upside that Meeks does. Meeks can improve his ball handling and it'll help his game alot at the next level. UKMF are you dating Calathes, or just a member of his fan club?

  I just think he's a heck of a lot better than most on here are giving him credit for.

I think people get way too caught up with guys that can score in basketball, much like they do with guys that hit HRs in baseball.

Yea but the guys that score win games. Who do you think is the better all around player Patterson or Meeks?

Without a doubt it's Patterson.

Who isn't giving him credit? He's one of the best 5 players in the conference. He's not the best and he won't be voted the best after this season unless Meeks finishes terrible and Calathes finishes on fire which isn't out of the question. He's very good, but he isn't having the year Meeks is. Meeks is having a year that not a lot of people can match at a big time school.

Without a doubt it's Patterson.

Exactly, and I knew that would be your answer, you just view it differently. UK couldn't win without Meeks, sad, but true. Patterson is a baller, but so is Meeks, they just haven't different games. Honestly Meeks is a really good defender, but UK needs him to be a better offensive player, so that's where alot of his focus is. Patterson helps to let Meeks excel in certain area's without worrying about others. BTW, it would be awful to watch a game with both of them not playing.

Georgetown wasn't that good that year, only within the last couple seasons have they really come around, and even then I think alot of that has to do with their being in the Big Easy, I mean Big East. They have several quailty teams, but they also have some bottom feeders as well.

I believe that was the year that GT lost to eventual NC Florida, the next year they went to the Final 4, they were pretty good that year and that performance was at GT a game I believe Duke lost...

He didn't guard Calathes...Perry Stevenson, Patrick Patterson, and Josh Harrelson did...

Correction, no one guarded Calathes...until they decided to foul him on the last shot of the game. Ramon Harris going under screens to start the game off just let him find his rythm and he didn't look back 'til he choked on the free throws.

I voted for Calathes simply because I would have more trust in him with the ball in his hands to make the right decision. Meeks is a close second, but you have to question his decision making at times. Even with North Carolina's defense I couldn't see Calathes turning the ball over 8 times like Meeks did earlier in the season. And has anyone mentioned that he already has 2 triple doubles as a sophomore?

Yes and they also had 10 losses that year. Losing to the eventual NC during March doesn't make them a good team that year.

Here's my issue with Meeks as a first team all american:

These are the big games, IMO, that he's been involved in:

UNC - 5/20 shooting, 19 points (1 assist, 6 turnovers)

WVU - 3/11 shooting, 19 points (0 assist, 5 turnovers)

Miami - 4/17 shooting, 10 points (2 assists, 0 turnovers)

Indiana - 5/12 shooting, 13 points (0 assist, 3 turnovers)

Louisville - 8/19 shooting, 28 points (0 assist, 6 turnovers)

Tennessee - 15/22 shooting, 54 points (4 assists, 1 turnover)

Ole Miss - 4/15 shooting, 21 points, (1 assist, 2 turnovers)

S.Carolina - 5/11 shooting, 20 points, (0 assist, 1 turnover)

MSU - 6/15 shooting, 15 points (0 assist, 1 turnover)

Florida - 7/19 shooting, 23 points (1 assist, 1 turnover)

The stat that stands out the most to me in the above is all the turn overs. If Meeks could work and on anything it would have to be taking better care of the ball.

Well if you look at those games turnovers were only a problem prior to SEC play. Since SEC play if you look at Rockprides so-called big games he had 2 vs. Ole Miss and 1 or less in the other games.

Don't forget in all this that 6 of Meek's points in the Ole Miss game were junk points made after Ole Miss had cleared the bench to give everyone some minutes.

Don't bring common sense into this LMB, just don't.

 You are correct, that has no place in this discussion.:D:thumb:

We know in your opinion Meeks is a ball hogging Calathes wanna be.

So in all of this the important thing to remember is that six of Jodie's points were junk points? Hilarious.

Who would you rather have the ball in their hands at the end of the game, to either win or tie?
