He is Mr. Everything for Holmes. I hope this game brings fourth some humility for the Dogs. They need to re-focus on the defensive side of the ball. After this scare I think Henley will have all ears this week. On a side note I find it some what comical, that people are rooting for these kids to fail because what someone post on BGP. Is it that serious. ER You are the man, and I think you do a good job. Is it just me ? or do you have a few critics from EKY.

It will be a test night in and night out, they are not only dealing with that, they are dealing with every team they play giving them there best shot, they are all getting up to play the number 1 team in Kentucky, and a nationally ranked team, everyone wants to say we are the ones who knocked them off.

This isn't just a "Holmes thing", by any stretch. Seen it happen many a time in the Sweet 16.

I hate to even bring this up but if you have watched Holmes play over the years as much as I think you have, you know that the zebras have always made Holmes teams earn everything they get. They traditionally give them no breaks and I have personally had some of them tell me they never will!! They could stop this team from achieving greatness with a few crucial whistles here and there.

 

10th region officials told you this? Interesting since Holmes is a 9th region team that the 10th very rarely officiates.

 

It's just a shame that aren't more people willing to get into referreing that have played the game and know what goes on during the heat of the battle. Most of the guys that get certified today clearly never played the game and do it as a part-time job to make a little extra cash. You used to have a solid bunch of veterans and new guys had to earn varsity games by doing the lower levels. I have seen refs today who haven't been around but a few years doing varsity action.

Both defenders that he shot over stood there with their arms straight up and made no attempy to block the shot and made no contact...it was clearly not a foul. There will be highlights from the game tonight on channel 12 news sports.

Very bad call... You let the kids determine the game and swallow the whistle in a case like this... If you foul someone it should be called but they completely missed that one...

 

If a foul is committed no matter the time it should be called. The very fact that a kid fouls means they did determine the outcome.

 

Officials that makes these comments don't need to be officiating because they are there to call it equal, not give other teams the call because they don't like Holmes. Thank goodness 9th region officials don't call the regional tourney.

Junior Ricardo Johnson scored six points in overtime as Holmes survived a challenge from Scott, 67-66, Saturday in Taylor Mill.

 

Sophomore guard Kellen Smith sent the game into overtime by making one free throw for the Eagles with no time remaining. Smith missed a second free throw that would have made the Eagles the first Northern Kentucky team to knock off the Bulldogs this season.

 

Smith led Scott with 23 points......

 

Johnson was one of four Holmes players to score in double figures....

First, I think EZ meant that 9th region officials told him they would give no breaks to Holmes out of dislike for them.

 

Second, not all but most 9th region officials are just not very good.

Not sure if he's better than Riley but he is definetly tough and will HANDS DOWN be the best true pg next year. He played extremely well for Scott and was the best player on the floor for them.

Smith played a whale of a game yesterday. He is only a Soph and if he keeps improving, IMO: he will be one of the top PG's in the 10th region and in NKY next year.

I've only seen Gabbard last year and a few times over the summer and didn't come away impressed. If Smith plays the rest of the season like he did yesterday, it's no contest.

 

Ask me in a week and I'll give you another evaluation of the two after I see Gabbard against Holmes.

I've told people Scott is better than people think.

Just because Scott loses by 1 to Holmes doesn't mean they are now a top 20 team. They haven't been in the top 20 all season. They lost to both Boone and Highlands, as well as some other teams they should have beaten. They are a dangerous, good team, but their record is 15-7. So, are Highlands and Boone in the top 20 too?

Definetly a few critics when it comes to the EKY contingent but hey Holmes keeps winning so not much people can really say. :ylsuper:

 

I do find it somewhat disturbing though that people are rooting for KIDS to fail because of what some (including myself) say on a public forum.
