Many fans don't realize the requirements for a travel to be called, thus, you get many fans who think they saw one when they didn't or think there wasn't one when there was. Its the most incorrectly complained about rule there is.

Bobby Knight had a segment on ESPN a couple of weeks ago where he maintained that walking in college was the most missed call by referees. He slowed the camera down and showed 2 examples where the player took 5 small steps without a dribble while setting up for a shot or attempting to pivot, yet walking was not called. Most players who try to switch pivots off the dribble while shooting actually walk. Jump stops are also often walks because the players feet do not come down simultaneously, yet it is often not called.

The travel is NOT called enough!!!!!

I saw that and Bobby proved that he didn't know the travel rule either. Many of his "steps" that he kept counting were with the non-pivot foot. That fools many people including some officials.

 

Not to pick on you Wildcatfan but your simplification of the jump stop rule is not accurate. The feet do NOT have to come down simultaneously. There's more to it than that. It is probably the most difficult travel to recognize.

I think this really shows that Holmes can be beat, but just like Dawg said, in order for them to lose, they have to beat themselves which is not out of the question from Holmes.

When he was backing the player down his right foot(pivot) came off the ground.

He took a dribble first so that's not a travel.

This score is great proof to me that there are no locks for Rupp Arena. Holmes could easily lose in the region just like any other team :thumb:

 

I agree, any region is wide open:thumb:. Really any game is wide open.
