Tupac...though I'm not as familiar with Biggie's non-mainstream stuff, so it's hard for me to make a fair assessment.

 

Though, I gotta say, the rappers of today (besides Eminem), don't even compare the rappers I grew up with. If rapping is about telling a story, there's none of that getting done these days.

I'd find it hard to argue that anyone is better than Tupac as a lyricist. However I think they perform pretty much equally.

His first verse in Notorious Thugs is by far my favorite verse of all time. 2Pac still is better overall.

Biggie. It was close, but I like BIG.

Biggie Smalls was a great artist. I loved the songs Juicy and Going Back To Cali. However, I don't think anyone compares in the rap industry (now or then) to the impact Tupac had. He completely changed the "game" IMO, and his songs are still successful even today. My favorite song by him would have to be "Changes", absolutely genius. Also, "I Ain't Mad At Cha" is one that I really enjoy. His song with R&B artist Jon B, "R U Still Down" is a good one as well.

 

Tupac in a landslide. Also, when people say Lil Wayne is the greatest rapper ever, I think they are mistaken.

I could just be out of the loop a bit these days. I just know the stuff I hear on the radio now pales in comparison to what was out back in the day. The name Soulja Boy (or whatever his name is) comes to mind.

I don't listen to much rap anymore but I still blast some Biggie and Pac every now and then.

 

Gotta give 2 pac the edge on this one. He could have been just as famous had he written poetry. As a lyricist alone, he was the best ever in my opinion. He really told a story with every song he wrote.

Tupac for sure. I might be the only 37 yr old Dad who listens to Tupac on this board but I do.

 

I actually like Biggie's music but not a big fan of the junior mafia. Tupac was a lyrical genius and extremely talented.
