I wouldn't be so sure about that. :sssh: Two of the three teams were willing to come to Sandy Hook this year but wanted a return game NEXT YEAR in nky which is why they said "No thanks. It wouldn't benefit our program to come up there next year." The other team who tried getting a game with EC was trying to get it on a neutral court in a showcase at the end of Jan. but wanted a return game in nky the following year but EC, again, declined because of he return game in nky.

 

I have a relative who coaches here in NKY (some know who), and I'm pretty confident with my information.

Anyone that saw them at Marshall County will attest ... they looked nothing like a national top-30 team. You can watch the video of that game, if you wish.

 

That's the problem with national rankings ... just because a team has some recruits, someone thinks they should be nationally ranked. Wheeler's record so far doesn't sell it very well.

 

 

I watched them at the Beach and the folks down there said they were 1 of the best teams in the country. There only loss at the Beach was to the 4th team in the Nation St. Patrick without there 2nd best player Richard Howell who is going to NC State. They have lost some games to some very good teams.

Scott Co is my top team IMO.

It's funny that everyone is complaining about rankings. They don't mean anything!! Congratulations Elliott County, I personally think you deserve it. I don't think anyone wants my personal opinion about Scott Co.

The only thing that rankings are good for (unless they determine seedings) is something to talk about. Something a fan can point to, puff out his chest and shout, "We're number 1!" Some folks seem to get real upset when a poll doesn't permit them to do so.

Looks like The Elliott team needs a home game , so why don't one of those teams step up and come on over to "the Hook", just to show that you can play ball with the best.:thumb:

And so we have a stand off which Elliott County wins. Why you may ask, it's simple, because Elliott County does not feel that they have anything to prove to anyone. Whereas, some non Elliott County fans feel that Elliott County does have some things to prove. Now, who do you think will sleep better tonight?

One last thing, if Holmes really wanted to play Elliott County and prove who is the better team(at least on that given night) they would be beating at Elliott County's doors for an opportunity to play Elliott County even if it were at Sandy Hook with no return game next year.

The polls are simply subjective opinions; nothing more, nothing less. All that matters when discussing who is number one is whether the team has a reasonable chance of winning the state. The answer for Elliott Co is a resounding yes (as it is for several other teams). That being said, Elliott would get my vote for number one, particularly on the basis of knowing how to play the game and being fun to watch. However, I am sure the fans of several other teams could make a strong case for their team being voted number one.

I have watched it several times.

 

Closest SC ever got in the final minutes was 3. Manning missed a shot that would have cut the lead to one and then Holmes pushed their lead back out to 8. Guyn hit a 3 with around 10 seconds left to cut the lead to 5, Ricardo got fouled on the next possession, pushed the lead to 7, and Jackson made a lay up with 3 seconds left to cut the final to 5. :thumb:

 

Like I said at that point it was still a ball game and the game was still in doubt.:thumb:

And Holmes doesn't know how to play the game the right way? and they are not fun to watch either? they just average 8 dunks a game and have good enough knowledge on how to play the game to be able to beat 3 top ten teams in the first month of the year.

Holmes has proved they deserve to be ranked #1 in KY by going out and beating the top ranked teams in KY. All EC has right now is a bunch of If's.

I'm an Elliott fan, and I have to agree that a return trip to NKY next season should be part of any agreement--that just maeks sense. I hope someone fills the void in EC's schedule...
