Homes and Elliott are both very solid teams. I hope I get to watch them play each other on a Saturday night in March. Rankings are pointless.

Let us please stop trying to push the fast forward button to Rupp. We need to enjoy each and every game in this fast moving season. I wish the season were a few weeks longer, so I could watch even more games. It will be over too soon for me. We all have our own opinions on who we think is the #1 team and that is fine. We are all allowed them.

How could the top 5 be picked out of hat when Holmes has beaten 2 of those top 5 teams???

3-1 vs top 10

W's- #3 Scott Co, #4 Bryan Station (both #1 at the time), #8 Ballard

Avenged their only loss with an 18 point win over Station ON STATION'S HOME FLOOR

 

Combined 5-1 against the 7th and 11th regions

W's- Scott Co, Bryan Station, Tates Creek, Ballard, Seneca

 

12-1 record

 

I think Holmes has more than proved themselves the best team in the state. If not for an early season let down in the second game of the year, we'd be talking about Holmes being undefeated right now.

 

2-3-4 could be picked out of a hat but IMO no way you can rank any of the other teams above Holmes when looking at their resume. Scott Co and Holmes are the only two teams to even play top 5 competition and that's because they played eachother. Until someone knocks off Holmes, IMO they are the #1 team in the state regardless of what the silly computer systems say.

 

EC is no doubt a top 3 team in the state, but IMO the only reason they're even ranked #1 in Cantrall's, Maxpreps, and Calpreps is because of their margin of victory over lesser opponents. That's not a knock on them at all as they are clearly as good as advertised and can't help the fact that their region is down. I ask you this though; Would EC have the same record playing Holmes, Scott Co, or J'town's schedule? Think about that and you'll realize why Holmes is (AT THIS POINT) the clear #1.

 

Eta, you continue to point out that the 16th region is down and other posters have made the comment that Elliott plays in the weakest region in the state but the overall record of the 16th region against other teams outside of the 16th is 48-32. Only three teams out of sixteen have a losing record outside of the region. I will admit the 16th region is not one of the top regions in the state but they are far from the worst. Here are the records of the 16th teams vs. teams outside the region.

With that said to answer your question would Elliott Co. have the same record playing Holmes, Scott Co. or Jeffersontown's schedule I say yes they would. JMO.

From what I hear Elliott administartion is probabluy just wanting anybody to fill a home game, since they have very few and almost always sell out.

It doesn't matter how long ya'll fight, or how much ya'll think you're right and the other one is wrong, until the two play each other there isn't much you can do. As for the rankings, if they don't matter stop arguing over them. I've said before, South Carolina basketball is weak. VERY weak. [i'm from there, I know]. The Cedar Hill team, I know nothing about so I won't comment on that. Elliot Co. needs to play some top notch KY teams before they can be the number one team to beat.

I would say that the gap between #1 Holmes and #2 Boone Co is closer than Boone and the # 3 team. I think alot of people are too hung up on how Boone county end thier season last year. It will be interesting to see how the 9th region plays out.

If he's from South Carolina, I think it's fair to say that he could have some credibility on the issue.

And I am not biased towards either Holmes OR Elliot County like most of you posting in here are. I think the way that a couple of people bicker back and forth in EVERY SINGLE THREAD related to each team are making their respective teams look bad. They are both great ball teams. But right now the edge SHOULD be given to Holmes, because Elliot Co. needs to play some of the top notch programs in state to claim to be the one to beat here.

 

And yes, I'm from SC. I played ball there, and coached as well. Basketball is not a strong sport. Baseball, YES. Football, YUP. Basketball, no lol. My High school had 3000+ people and we fielded a pathetic version of a basketball team, because it just isn't a focused sport. Some of the AAU programs are good, but the high school programs not so much. So while it is great to beat a defending state champ in ANY state, SC isn't one of the strongest ones to throw around for bragging rights.
