When is T/X playing the big four from Cincinnati? I know they have problems getting competitive games . Highlands tries to play one of them every year, but I dont see the teams from X/T on there schedules.

 

 

We played Cincy X last year and this year. I would wager that most of it has to do with open dates and contracts we are already in.

Lastly, have been waiting patiently for the SK faithful who were the "smack talkers" all week to be on here today - but to no avail. Just what I thought.

They were very free with the comments, predictions of a monutmental upset, and overall disregard they showed to the Rocks. No where to be found today.

 

I think the Rocks proved their point. SK has never been this far before and probably has a bunch of kids posting, so it's not a huge surprise not to find them here. Funny that the only one "talking smack" seems to be you. Very classy.

I understand what you are saying. You oppose having the two best teams reach the championship. I suppose that is fine but you will end up with a lot of 48-0 games (and worse) all for the sake of "inclusion of lessers".

 

 

If you want to look at it that way, then why doesn't the KHSAA take the preseason top 2 and ensure they are on different sides of the bracket every year?

I saw Coach Markesberry's very complimentary comments about T in this morning's Enquirer. Very gracious and classy man. Only "thing" I had about his comments was he said SK had no way of preparing for Trinity's offensive machine. You'd think that every N. Ky 6A school would be begging Mueller to put Highlands on their schedule to at least get a taste of what Trinity would bring to the table if there was a playoff matchup with T. While we don't run the same offense that T does (which is very, very impressive by the way), we do possess the high level of team speed and quickness that T does and with Highlands being in their back yards, it would only makes sense for any 6A team with real playoff thoughts to schedule us. Credit to Boone County's Thompson for putting Highlands on the schedule again next year and Ryle for continuing their series with Highlands. I hope SK does so in the near future.

 

That out of the way, I do want to commend and congratulate SK for a great season. Well done coaches and young men. You know what adjustments and changes need to be made if you expect to be able to beat T down the road. I don't care how good Simpson is (and he is very good) you simply cannot beat T with the offense ran last night. I'm sure the qb getting knocked out of the game didn't help, but it was apparent by then that with T focusing Whiting and others on Simpson, SK's offense didn't have enough other options in the book to move the ball. The system got them to the state game, but to win state, there will need to be improvements. I'm sure Markesberry realizes this.

 

I was extremely impressed with the fan turn out by the SK supporters. That was very impressive indeed. Great job.

 

According to the Enquirer, Lawrence is okay, suffering a concussion. Hope he can make a full return next year (concussions in my opinion are much more serious injuries than blown knees, ankles, etc), but since this was his second concussion this year (again according to the Enquirer) I hope his parents have Chad thoroughly tested before they determine if he'll play again next year. Let's keep him in our prayers.:thumb:

 

Congrats Rocks for another great season and State Championship. Trinity has an outstanding program and commitment to football. You are a credit to Ky high school football. You keep running hard, because it was force us to run harder in our chase to catch you. Which will only make both programs better.

Yeah, I sit at the very end of the Trinity side towards the scoreboard closest to the field. I believe it was students. It was very brief and easy to miss.

The Trinity student section was at the other end of the stadium opposite the score board. I am sure if this took place it was some low class fans that unfortunately every team has. As a Trinity parent, we were all concerned about the kid. I was on the field after the game and instead of congratulating my son first, I sought out a SK coach to see if he was ok. I was told then that it was a concussion. As far as the team taking a knee, I noticed the Trinity kids that were on the side line did take a knee for this. The ones that were playing took a knee for a short while, but it was a cold night and they were in the heat of battle and I assume they stood up and stretched to keep from cramping or to stay loose. I don't feel this was disrespectful.

Trinity is 2 tds better than Highlands. I have seen every GCL team play (some numerous times) and have been to over 30 football games this season. IMO, there isn't a team in Ohio or Kentucky that would have beaten this Trinity team Saturday night.

 

Simon Kenton isn't that bad, Trinity is just that good.

 

Although I will say, outside of Trinity and St. X, 6A as a whole in KY just isn't that good. The 2A state runner-up had no problem beating the 6A state runner-up. That should never happen.

 

PS-Don't know about the cheerleaders but the Trinity student section was chanting the "Nah..Nah...Hey...Hey...Goodbye" chant. I heard it with my own two ears. Made me sick! I expected better from Trinity, even if it was just high school students.

But it would be fun to play the best of the other Classes especially 5A just to see where they rate. T played Bowling Green this year and I believe they are on the schedule again next season. They played T closer than anyone other than X.

"Taking a Knee" is a sign of mutual respect for any injured player. As a football parent I am always concerned when a player is injured, and thankful when he is not seriously injured. Congrats to these teams and best wishes in the future for all their seniors.

 

Taking a knee is what they do in youth soccer. For some reasons people think that if you do not take a knee you do not care and that is just plain ridiculous.

I thought leading with the helmet was a point of emphasis for officials to watch cloely last year?

 

Ask those high school officials if they ever heard Mr. Jullian Tackett say in any of his state clinics, if there is a chance that any hit looks close to being borderline illegal, there better be a penalty flag laying on the ground as they move the stretcher.

 

As for Trinity they are the team to beat. They set the mark very high. and congrats to them for the job they do, and I am sure they have some very classy fans. All I know is the fans and parents that sat behind my party where very rude. "Are they (Simon Kenton) wearing their practice uniforms?"

"Our freshman could beat these guys." "They will be bowing down and kissing our feet here shortly." The comments after SK'S QB was injured "Sorry people thats football GET OVER IT!" "Welcome to Louisville football,BUD!" "Next!"

 

These were "Adults" in thier 40's and 50's. One of them even had their 6 yr old grandchild with them.

I'm curious why T fans were sitting on the SK side to begin with. As I said in another post, all teams have some bad fans. Don't judge an entire program on a few idiots.

I have seen plenty of college & NFL players take a knee when a player is being back boarded or seriously hurt. I am not saying it is disrespectful or not to take a knee because it doesn't matter either way to me. It sounds like the SK QB is OK which is good news. Haven't seen many say that. People are more worried about if a team took a knee or not. Lets not worry about that and lets worry about the injured athlete.

Trinity has played Cincinnati X two straight years, beating them this year. We play them again next season. Elder was also on the schedule but the game was cancelled due to needing home games for both sides. T plays Moehler as well on Freshman and JV level every year.
