I think it is about time to close this one down.

I am not a SK fan so I am not sure what I am suppose to get over. To say the hit was clean is incorrect. I use the word clean there to me legal or not. To say the Trinity player did it with malice is something only he knows. I never said anything about his intent.

 

Simple facts

It was helmet to helmet

The offensive player was struck with the crown of the defensive players helmet

When this occurs it is a flag.

 

Now things like that happen all the time in a game. Sometimes on purpose but in most cases not. It is like a facemask. Sometimes a kid does it with intent and other times it just happens.

 

No, no, and yes, but not in this case.

The S-K player was sort of spun into the T player. Messina (sp.?) did not spear him with his helmet. No one on either team played that game to try to injury somebody (which perhaps cannot be said about some earlier round games). It was, IMVHO, more painful for folks to see given the score/competition level of the ballgame.

Good grief. Can't those who seek to detract from Trinity's impressive win just let it go. The boy will be fine and that is most important. However, to go over and over this one incident (which had nothing whatsoever to do with the outcome of the game and which resulted in no permanent injury to anyone) is ridiculous.

 

Once we knew the boy would be fine, it was time to move on and salute Trinity for its overwhelming display of superiority in the championship game. Simon Kenton should be congratulated for a fine season. However, they lost. And, if we are honest, St. Xavier should have been there instead.

2. Taking a knee;

3. Crowd size; and

4. Shaking hands...

 

than the actual game. I guess that speaks volumes about the game.

Sure, as I recall the Trinity Nation surrounded the ambulance to seranade the fallen 'Neer. We both know that didn't happen in 2008. What is your point? Helmet to helmet was not as condemned as it is today. Once upon a time, there were no facemasks. Good luck to the 'Neer Nation in their quest to reach Bowling Green in 2015.

I was at that game, brutally boring, you can't tell anything from that... But is that Brock Messina in the pic w/ the cast?? If so that dude could lay the wood, he was impressive.

Yes, because looking at some pictures years later clearly gives you better capacity for judgement than the entire referee staff who actually saw it happen live at the game.

 

Also, as earlier mentioned in the thread, those singing were just few jerks in the student section that were quickly silenced.

 

Does the loss still sting that much after more than half a decade? I can't imagine why else you would resurrect this thread.
