I believe all T supporters are thankful the young man is ok. Never want to see injuries of any type. I also believe T players do not intentionally take 'cheap shots".

 

I have talked with too many Officials who have worked T games and discuss the differences of interacting with T players vs. those of other schools.

 

XGRD is correct. The play was too fast with too many variables for an intentional well aimed hit. IMVHO

I never ever stated that the outcome of the game was determined by the officials. I do wear blue colored glasses but not to that extent. IMO if the official had thrown his flag on the first hit on Simpson out-of-bounds maybe the hit on Lawerence would not have occured. Like I stated before I was 2 feet away from the hit and I don't care what the Louisville chain crew has to say. It was H to H period end of story. And the "Missle" attempted to hit the Bustle kid the same way later in the game. Leading with your head is a danger toyourself and others. That is why there is a rule against it. Supposedly a point of emphasis. My problem is more with the officals that refused to call the first obvious late hit on Simpson out of bounds. After all it is not a foul unless the official calls it.

He was going to make a play, there was no way he could of make a play and it not been H to H. It's tragic that the young man was injured but there was no way around it. It should of been flagged but it was no way a dirty play.

But it would be fun to play the best of the other Classes especially 5A just to see where they rate. T played Bowling Green this year and I believe they are on the schedule again next season. They played T closer than anyone other than X.

 

I totally agree with you that it would be fun and I would love to see it happen. Heck, there would be no shame in losing to a school of Trinity's caliber, much like there was no shame in losing to Colerain this year. But it's one of those matchups that will only happen if it "works" for both schools (i.e. financially and common open dates), as neither school "needs" to play this game.

My opinion, good no call on the hit! All of the officials I talked to agree with me.

Happened 2feet in front of me and I can assure you it WAS helmet to helmet and was the 2nd time that was attempted. He tried to hit Simpson earlier and Miles ducked it and he still hit him in the white. (Should have been a flag on that but officiating in this game should be another topic.) The third time 47 lead with his head our team physician said something the the joke of the head linesman on our side. Please, you don't have to injure someone to get your D1 scholarship. They are way too good to be doing things like that.

Why is it classless? Some of you won't let it go. Numerous posters have talked with numerous officials who ALL have said it was a CLEAN HIT. As have the KHSAA folks. What don't you understand about it?

I haven't heard or read anything Coach Marksberry said about the game. We lost, game over. As for the hit Brock Messina was flying in to make the tackle, that's expected from every football player. I don't think it was intensional, he dropped his head a little at the last second to avoid taking one on the chin. Chad will be fine and back next year even better. You can't get better unless you play the best, next year SK will be at it again hopefully with better results. SK is losing some fine seniors, they have some great juniors ready to step up. Congrats and thanks to the whole SK football team and coaching staff, this was a year to remember! :thumb:

I spoke with members of the 'Chain gang" - who are Officials. They said it was clean.

 

Had a CB thrown out of a game for throwing a knee to a player (this was done while standing). It happened on the sideline away from us as coaches. The chain gang, and the coaches from the other team said they saw nothing. On film it was clear our kid did it. Point being Officials and chain gangs miss things.

 

As stated before the KHSAA said they did not think it was done with malice intent. That is not the same as saying they believe no flag should have been thrown. The QB was struck with the crown of the helmet. It does not matter why it happened (plays like that do not happen unless the defender uses poor technique. See what you hit) but it happened.

 

The KHSAA is not going to throw an official under the bus and that is exactly what would have happened if any other statement than what was made. Even if they said it was done with malice what is the KHSAA going to do? There is nothing they could have done.

Film of the game? I know you can tackle when the score is 17-17 and when its 34-0.

I am not a SK fan so I am not sure what I am suppose to get over. To say the hit was clean is incorrect. I use the word clean there to me legal or not. To say the Trinity player did it with malice is something only he knows. I never said anything about his intent.

 

Simple facts

It was helmet to helmet

The offensive player was struck with the crown of the defensive players helmet

When this occurs it is a flag.

 

Now things like that happen all the time in a game. Sometimes on purpose but in most cases not. It is like a facemask. Sometimes a kid does it with intent and other times it just happens.
