Dylan Kupper, OL from Trinity, should be a nice player next year.

No I think he hit it. Collinsworth and Roller are the top two D1 prospects from Highlands next year. Who else would you put? And you can't name the entire roster..

First of all the thread isn't about what kids are likely to go D1. It was about the top (current) juniors which is something complete different than who can play D1 football.

Second, as others have pointed out, the Bardo kid, when given his shot to show his qb stuff, will really suprise some people with his D1 potential. Not only is the kid very talented throwing and running the ball, he has what D1 schools want: and that is height. Welz, Grubbs and Hogue also have height which may get them some serious attention from D1 schools.

Combs and Schlosser do not have that height which is unfortunate, but there's nothing that can be done with that. Nonetheless they are both very talented junior offensive linemen that have played a major contributing role in the Birds' success this year and will do so again next year. They do not fall in the category of likely to go D1, but they (and others) belong in the category of top (current) juniors in my opinion.

Don't just focus on Bardo at the next level, you have others and I hate to mention names because someone may be left out, however two at Highlands that stand out are Grubbs and Welz, both have the size to compete at the next level. How many times have you seen a kid playing in High school and wonder why college coaches are so high on this kid??? They must know something we don't, you can't teach speed and size.

Another thing that I would like to add is every player is an injury away from having the opportunity to play at the next level. If they are fortunate enough to have the opportunity hopefully they will concentrate on their education because that is more important than playing this game.

I agree.

Here is my list of TOP JR's for Highlands who will garner D-1 looks.

Collinsworth- DB - incredible work ethic, awesome genes and should be interesting to see if he plays basketball this winter or goes immediately into an offseason program that I am sure will be incredible.

Roller- Lb- Might be the best pure athlete on the field next to Collinsworth. Great family genes, football IQ and should be interesting to see him come back from the injury.

Grubbs- T - There is something to be said about size and athleticism. This kid is 6'5 280 and has pretty good feet. I am sure he will be on the radar for a D-1 school to mold into a formidable Collegiate Tackle.

Welz- T- He has really come on and with his size at 6'5 240lb, he has the frame to add an additional 30 to 40 lbs in college. I dont know his speed but he is filling in at TE for Roller and looking very good.

Bardo- DB- Will had the size and speed to garner D-1 attention next year but will need to step up and be a dominating DB. He is going to have to really cover the field and stand out because he has the physical tools. Should be fun to watch him QB with that track star speed.

Channing Fugate...2714 yards rushing this year and counting, well over 30 TDs rushing, not to mention receiving yardage, at 6-2, 220, has tools to be big-time player on Saturdays down the road. Possibly best player ever to come out of Breathitt County, and that says quite a bit.

#61 Randen Collett ( 6'2 275 DT) Leslie Co. High School

74 Tackles (42 Solo)

21 Tackles for Loss

8 Forced Fumbles

2 Fumble recoveries

4 Sacks

If Randen played in one of the larger media areas, he would be right at the top of the list of Def. Linemen in the state.

Also, Fugate (Breathitt)will be a front runner for Mr. Football next year.

Watkins( Corbin)

Wardrup(North Laurel)

Watts (McCreary)

Raines (Bell)

Watkins may be the most underrated player I saw this season. VERY solid HS player who has the potential to play on Saturdays.

Tyrell Willis from Calloway County is the real deal. This kid is a beast and is the best D.1 prospect in WKY period. Big, fast and has a mean streak. Hope his grades are in order because he is something else.

Are the heights and weights listed correct??

Was on Scout and they had Austin from a combine last year as 6'0 (which young men do grow), 175 and timed at a 4.65. From what I've seen he is much taller, bigger and faster than those figures.

I think those others (Roller, Grubbs, Welz and Bardo) will definitely garner some attention from D-1 Schools. Roller is real athletic and and knows the game. Should be an interesting year for the 2010 recruiting class at HHS. Bardo is the one that piques my interest. With his speed and frame, put a RS on him and show him the weight room (HHS's off-season program is amazing, but not really geared to putting meat on the bones) and you have a Strong Safety or WLB.

Dixie's QB Ryan Wilson(5'11 160) and RB Corey Klei(5'6 190) are going to lead an explosive offense for the Colonels next year. Both put up very good numbers this year. It should be interesting to see what they do next year being a lethal combination in the spread.

Saint Xavier's Nicholas Sears who plays free safety has Six INT's on the year two shy of the season recond for STX. Wyatt Gray STX punter/kicker and Brian Buehner who plays QB and WR.

So Ryan will definitely be the QB? I thought that they were still leaning towards the Sophomore. What about Pike?

Cody Kelly, 6' 200 lb. linebacker and fullback. Led the Raceland defense in tackles and was impressive as a running back, although he had limited touches with 2 three year starters that both gained over 1,250 yards a piece. He would have been a feature back at most schools this year. Ask the LCA folks, they said he reminds them of A.J. Hawk. I don't have final stats on Mr. Kelly as the season just ended, but The Cerebral Assassin will have them soon.
