  1. Christian County will have an outstanding group this year lead by Bubba Tandy. Keep an eye on this kid. Very strong and fast played well against Highlands in the State Finials. They have about four others who could start at most schools and all of them can run under the 4.6 forty range. Very fast group with alot height and strength.
  2. Here is a name you will hear alot about years to come. Juan Jones of Christian County. I've have teach 15 years in the elementary system and have had several kids go on to play college ball at several sports. Juan jones is by far the best athlete ever to come threw Christian County in many years. Last week at Weight lifting practice (8th grader now) he benched 220, squat 340, power clean 250, 4.65 forty, 35 vertical jump, and 4.2 in the pro shuttle. He is only about 5'7 weighs around 160. Good kid whos dad was a great player in the early 90"s who last a heart breaker to st.X in the semis. Will play RB and DB for the colonels.
  3. I would say that Bowling Green is the early favorite. They were young and a have a stud tailback. Good size upfront on both sides of the ball. BG starts the season with Christian County so we will find out early who has the upper hand. County might have the best skill kids in the west or even in 5A but only return one starter upfront on both sides of the ball. Hoptown will have an experience line and should have one of the better backfields in the west. They will be a little short handed n some skill areas but will have speed to burn. The big question for them is can they stop the run. Madisonville will be very solid and will make that district one of the better ones in 5a football.
  4. They should be fine at the QB position. Won't have near the runner but looks to improve their passing game. The banks kid is the real deal at rb and have about 4-5 skill kids who can score anywhere on the field. The only question mark is the o-line but they do have some kids that look the part.
  5. Overall football has got alot better in Kentucky the last 15-20 years one of the main reason was due to 7 0n 7 competition. We should not have let this happen. To be honest i don't like the ideal of 7 on 7 in July. June was the time you put in your passing offense and work on your coverages. July was time for getting you team ready for the season. We always entered 4-5 passing tournaments in June, now we might get one in July. This rule would not have passed if it wasn't for a certain coach in Central Kentucky who spoked up for it.
  6. Hoptowns WR Victor Moulden shoud have made it. 1st team AP and 2nd team Couier Journal. Lead 5A in receiving yards and average per catch. 3RBs and one WR looks like a wishbone offense.
  7. Some of us thought the 2007 team was a little better because of their defense. Those LB's were big and fast. 2008 team did more on offense but still the end result was the same.
  8. Good game on both parts. Highlands won the game upfront. Christian County could not run the ball except had some success on speed option. Thought going in to the game Christian could throw the ball on them and they did. Highlands put alot of pressure on Countys QB which limited the deep ball plus Highlands DBs were playing 8 to 10 yards off. Highlands DB's did a great job off coming off the stalk blocks and laid some good licks in. Christian County played hard and did not give up but just got beat by a better team. Highlands offensive line is very very good. Fort Thomas runs Counter Trey better than any team I've seen in Kentucky ever! As for next year I look for Highlands to be back. I like their back-up QB. He could be as good as the last two and thats saying alot.
  9. Congradulations to Hoptown's Victor Moulden. Victor caught 55 passes for 1,220 yards and 14 TDs. He broke every school receiving record in two years. He played against some good competition the last two years which help him get notice by many people and schools. Moulden has 3.7 GPA and has already qualified and should keep playing at the next level.
  10. OK.. Collinsworth is leget and can run but the other 3 DB's had average speed. Collinsworth played alot a safety when i saw them play. Hey a fan of Highlands love how they play and what they stand for but Christian County will have a definite speed advantage and should be able to throw the ball when needed.
  11. Yea I'm serious. They are good players they have to be to play and start for Highlands but compared to County skill kids they are a little slow footed. Highlands plays Cover 2 and will have help with their safeties over top.
  12. I was at the 1982 game and it was the best two teams in the state that year. Christian County did have Jerry Reese who was a stud and probably the best Defensive linemen in Kentucky High School history. Reese was so dominate that year when he went up against Dermonte Dawson(NFL Hall of Fame) he had 7 tackles for losses and pick up a fumble and scored a TD 55 yards away. Christian County did play that game without 4 starters who mised practice that week but still hang in there with a great Highlands team. Christian County ended up winning state that year beating no.1 rank Owensbore and Bryan Station who had 3 players ended up playing in the NFL. Christian County was the first school to win the 4A title with every game on the road. This year Christian County team has peek at the right time. They are loaded at RB's with maybe the best back in the state Vashawn Banks. WR Bubba Tandy is a good WR who can get deep on you. As good as Banks and company are the one who makes County go is their QB James Bauer. The kid makes playes and just slips away form you when you think you got him. He is very quick and is their leader. Highlands will be the favorite in this game and should win but I expect a close game. I thought one of Highlands weakness this year is their pass defense. Their LBers are very average in this area and their corners are a little slow footed. Should be a fun game to watch with several interesting matchups. Good luck to both teams.
  13. Tyrell Willis from Calloway County is the real deal. This kid is a beast and is the best D.1 prospect in WKY period. Big, fast and has a mean streak. Hope his grades are in order because he is something else.
  14. Christian County has played one team this year that runs the wing-t and that was Graves County. The score was 0 to 0 at half. County ended up winning going away and held Graves in check most of the night. John Hardin is no Graves County but I look for County to have a good plan on stopping the run. This will be a game where Christian can not turn the ball over like they have the last couple of games an expect to win the game. John Hardin has several good backs and will score some points this coming Friday but they will need to pass the ball to win this game. This game could go either way. Should be a good one! Good luck to both teams.
  15. Wow!! It's hard imagine Owensbore not having a first down till late in the 3rd quarter. Great job to the Colonels D. Christian County did switch some of their defense personel and played some forty but you would think Owensbore could adjust a little at this point of the year. To me Christian County played harder and wanted it more!
