Its so hard to predict these games. I remember in 2004 Highlands came to Bell in the semis as heavy favorites. Literally more than just a couple of people on BGP were saying that Bell couldn't cross the 50 yard line against Highlands. Bell lost 14-10, but had 2 crucial fumbles. 1 was returned for a TD and the other happened while the Bell running back was running in for a TD. Then 3 years ago Bell beat Rock in the regular season on Log Mtn, but were shutout by Rock in the playoffs. I will say this. Bell Co. has a lot of seniors that have been winners for a long time. They will hafta play better, but I believe Bell can make it to Louisville.

As to the Highlands issue, I do remember the statements of Bell not being able to make it past the 50, then Shawn Robbins in the first offensive drive of the game broke a 60+ yard TD run. By no means do we have a Shawn Robbins on this team, but our O-line are absolute monsters, only 1 of them under 6'2, but he's 300+ pounds, and this line can open up some huge holes, plus with 2-3 capable backs, Boyle may see the run quite a bit, but dont sleep on the Bell Co. passing game, theres some very good athletes on this Bell Co. team. Cant wait to see this match up!

The good thing about a matchup like these two teams is, it WILL show just how good each team really is come friday, because we are pretty well matched up. No excuses, no field conditions, no "well we had an off night". You have two great teams going head to head and it will be settled Friday on log mountain and I can't wait. I too agree with your response. Dudley has been outstanding wherever he has gone and he has 2 State titles to show for it.

 

I think weather and field factor could be an issue. I don't know what the forecasts are but if the field were in bad shape I would think that would favor the Bobcat attack as Boyle executes well but is not as big as Bell County. I see the game coming down the team that makes the fewest mistakes and the offense that shows the ability to enforce their will on the other's defense.

 

It should be a close game and one you would expect to see for the right to go to the Title Game. :thumb:

Obviously there are a lot of people looking at this game through rose-colored glasses. The fact is that this will be a knock-down drag-out between two good teams. I hear that strange things can happen on log mountain. GO REBELS!!

Apparently he's not seen the Bell Co. Passing attack in general. Have never seen a Bell Co. team line up in shotgun and actually move the ball down the field how this team does. I would nearly go as far as saying Matt Raines may be even, or nearly faster then Boyle's players, boy has serious speed, and is a pretty good lockdown corner and playmaker on defense also;). I'm predicting, theres going to be standing room only come Friday night, if that, this one is gonna be good. Boyle may have Bell outmatched, but Bell always steps it up on Log Mountain in these big time games, and IMO this is possibly the best Bell Co. team EVER. I've got faith in my Bobcats, cant wait 'till friday:fight:

Don't know what you are offended by. What are Bell's passing stats on the year and let's see. The reality is that both teams would prefer to run but that Bell County is more suited to "grind it out" behind some big linemen (much bigger than Boyles it seems). Boyle gets a lot of their run yardage out of spread and misdirection. Which of those teams does it sound like a sloppy field would favor?

 

I don't mind team loyalty but don't go looking for a fight where there is none. It's not a sign of disrespect to a great Bell County team but an analysis of what Boyle is best at doing.

Boyle's coach better go out this week and invest in some 1" screw in cleats. Good luck with this one!!!!:laugh:
