I don't know how anyone can say that Boyle is a clear cut favorite. Bell has the same record and has a stingier defense than even Boyle. A team that gives up only 35 points on the year to 13 opponents is the formidible favorite. A team that was in this same game last year is the favorite. (Hint this is Boyle's first Semi-Final since 2004)

That is the wonderful thing about this game Boyle can bring as many as they want but only 11 can play at a time, the persians had hundreds of thousands!!

 

I promise you unless it rains during warm-up field will not be a factor. I know the teams up north like the 1 inch cleats (see Cov Cath in 93) but us folks down south like to play by the rules!!!

 

From the sounds of things I sure hope Bell was overlooking KC, b/c Boyle will come out smoking. Bell will have to play 4 quarters something they have not done since probally the Whitley game.

Boyle needs to play better to advance. To go to Bell County and expect to come out of there with a win, you can not have 60 yards passing, Blocked Extra Point, and missed tackles.

 

19-14 win over Knox Central has no bearing on the outcome of the Boyle game. That game is history and I feel too many people are putting to much stock on the results of that game. Just look back a couple of weeks ago when Bryan Station played with Highlands. What did Highlands do the next week against Ashland?

(This is also Boyle's 7th Semi-Final appearance in the last 10 years, which we have won the previous 6).. Pretty good record is Semi Final Appearances.

I don't understand this statement??? Who besides LC has Boyle played that is really good??

 

Don't know what you are offended by. What are Bell's passing stats on the year and let's see. The reality is that both teams would prefer to run but that Bell County is more suited to "grind it out" behind some big linemen (much bigger than Boyles it seems). Boyle gets a lot of their run yardage out of spread and misdirection. Which of those teams does it sound like a sloppy field would favor?

 

I don't mind team loyalty but don't go looking for a fight where there is none. It's not a sign of disrespect to a great Bell County team but an analysis of what Boyle is best at doing.

 

No, I'm not looking for a fight at all, nor am I saying your disrespecting Bell Co. in any way, i just think its not a very good idea to say our passing game is pretty much non existant. I promise, you will see the run quite a bit, but if it comes dwon to forcing us to pass, I feel like we're much more dangerous through the air, and this team is more then capable to beat teams with the pass. and the stats look pretty good to me actually, prior to last night Zachery was 60-96 on the year with 1192 yards, 21 td's 1 pick. Very good looking stats to me. Pretty darn good for a team that cant win with the passing game. but at the same time, there is 2 backs that has rushed for over 500+ yards. All I'm saying, is dont take the passing attack lightly. I know more then likely it will be a grind it out kind of game, but if we're forced to do it through the air, we're capable. I meant no disrespect towards you.

I know that thye finished up the end of the regular season pretty weak after they played Mercer and they weren't a very high caliber team because they made an early exit in the playoffs.

That is the wonderful thing about this game Boyle can bring as many as they want but only 11 can play at a time, the persians had hundreds of thousands!!

Actually I'm looking forward to this matchup. From what I've heard, from those who have seen both, they rate it a toss up and Bell as good a team as this one person has seen this year. It's going to be funny talking all week.

I didn't say the above bolded. Like Boyle, Bell would rather run. If it were in a messy field - Bell has more of an advantage. Boyle's advantage in passing is that their offense is based on utilizing the pass while Bell's run is used more to set up the pass. That's all. :thumb:

Bell's top opponents went like this in the regular season:

 

Whitley County 9-1, Sheldon Clark 8-2, Rockastle and Knox Central 7-3. Don't know the record from Church Hill in TN.

 

If you ask me both schedules sound about even. Both have faced some good teams.

Most of Boyle's toughest teams were front-loaded on the schedule and the fact that the Lex Cath District contest was early.
