The Paintsville Herald is the only local paper I know of down there. I'm sure the story has appeared in their print edition. They hust haven't gotten around to updating their website. It still shows the Cov Cath game re-cap.

Okay, here's the scoop. The Paintsville Herald and Big Sandy News both come out on Wednesday. Their websites will be updated that morning. The bad news is that, unless you subscribe, you can't read the whole article on the Herald, and you can't read any of it on the Big Sandy News.

I actually was disappointed Sweeperboy didnt take the mic on the way home.

Given the turn of events last night, I wonder what a Belfry/HHS matchup would be like? I think it would be a lot of fun, although obviously HHS would be the favorite.

 

My thoughts too.. Belfry may actually be a better running team than JC and more capable of a pass rush on defense. Highlands would still torch Belfry's DB's, but the Pirates might make those passes a little less accurate with Coleman and Hall chasing after the QB.

 

Ahh...well..... maybe one day the powers that be can make it work.

The officiating crew was out of Lexington, Kentucky. Probably closer to Ft T than Paintsville. Far stretch from the mountains.

 

Secondly, I had a good vantage point as well and did not have a problem with the call. It was so very close... could have gone one way or the other. (If you looked at the right pole of that goal post - it had a serious lean to the right. If anything, that would have been in Cody's favor as the ball sailed high over that leaning pole!) No doubt, Cody will nail it next time...

 

IMO, the officiating was very good. I did not like some of the calls... but that was because the calls were against the Birds! Call 'em as you see 'em.

That was more of an inside joke than anything. Birdsfan and I were in the same journalism class in high school.

The powers to be have indicated they are moving Welz to offensive line next year. His athlecticism and size would be Stein like!

 

A few thoughts;

• It is at least one, and hopefully two weeks premature to entertain discussions about next year.
  
• Not to doubt your sources, however, I can't believe any significant coaching time has gone into the depth chart for next year, instead of preparing for opponents in the playoffs.
  
• Keep in mind, that in addition to any moves that might be made, there are several current juniors already on the O-line (Beck and Dierig), not to mention any sophomores who will compete for time.

I agree with DMZ. They are watching who is getting better each and every week and taking notes. There is never a lull in coaching and prospecting for the future at Highlands. With 28 coaches Im sure they have one of them assigned to watching the performance of the underclassmen in these game situations and documenting it.

I would say that was a missed call on the extra point. The ref looked like he was looking at the other ref for some sort of what do ya think answer.
