The other was on a sticks route that was well covered. The Defender got there the same time as the ball and knocked it loose. Happened on the Birds sideline right around the Birds 40. It was a good throw but just well covered.

I cant believe I am up at this hour. What a great trip down and back. Hangin with a bunch of BGPers and watching a great football game was the best.

 

Congrats to the Birds for persevering and taking advantage of the JC weaknesses. The secondary had no answers for the Birds receivers and the line gave TG all night. That field goal was certainly good and I had a great vantage point. It was obvious we were in the mountains at that point and nothing you can do about that.

 

Kody Rosenhagen made the play of the game so kudos to him for that burst of speed in taking it to the house. Great players make great plays when teams need them to and that was a fantastic play.

It was gone at 3:45 this morning when i decided to shut it down. Wow!!!!!

Guidugli completed eight of 10 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Just think what he could have done if he was fast!

If Dale would have had a pass first mentality last night, rather than trying to mix it up and run the ball, (which they did effectively, so I'm definetly not criticizing him) this could have gotten ugly. JC couldn't stop Highlands from passing. The o-line did a great job giving TG time to throw and there's too many weapons in the receiving corps to shut down everyone. Gold's td last night is a perfect example. I think they should have ran the counter trap with Conner a little more as well. The few times they ran it, they picked up big chunks of yardage with one going to the house for a 43 yd td.

Congratulations to Johnson Central on a well played, hard fought game. Your team executed extremely well and displayed the utmost sportsmanship throughout the game. Your facilities were extremely nice and everyone was very hospitable. Thanks to the radio crew of 98.8 for the pizza and drinks as well as the football show they broadcast on our ride home. Now to the Birds, wow! You were challenged, you learned quickly you were in a dog fight and worked your tail feathers off to contain the long runs. Heck I couldn't tell who had the ball either! As difficult as it was to bring the JC running backs down you continued to swarm to the ball and play until the whistle blew.

 

Offense - outstanding play! Josh looking like the old Josh and Clint hitting the holes in a hurry. The misdirection worked all night. The problem is you scored so quickly the D couldn't get their breath. AC great defense and you did your job on O with the reverses and dragging the secondary of JC with you wherever you went allowing TG to hit the rest of the boys with those long TD's.

 

One thing I didn't understand was when JC had the ball and the backs were running all over the place and HHS was trying to stop them they got the forward progress. When HHS would stop them in the backfield and the running back continued to fight for yardage and work to see if he could break free, churning his legs until the whistle blew the referee would then move the ball way back up the field. Had the JC running back broken free would the referee blown the play dead?

 

TG way to play....#5 never expected you to put your shoulder down and run him over.

Im sorry but I had to laugh. That is exactly what I said last night when they called that no good. Seriously. Ask Strike 3 I think he was in the vicinity.

 

Ok, well I am not saying that they threw the call but its obvious that you are not going to get any calls when traveling to far away places. It was probably a tough call from their position. From my position on the track at the far end of the field you could clearly see it go high and just make it. Thankfully the Birds got the ball coming out at halftime and threw the quick strike.

 

I guess I was just a little irked myself at some of the local deputies giving some of my friends a hard time on the sidelines and then making a comment that they hoped our team lost. :lol:

I was there for that Andy Griffith rerun. Unbelieveable! Barney at his best. "I said nipit, nipit at the bud" . His comment walking away was awesome. Wish I could have found him after the game.

TG is a tough kid and anyone trying to go heads up with him better bring the wood or they're going to be laying on their back like he was.

If you read one of my initial posts, I stated JC's offense moved the ball rather well and the Richardson kid was very impressive. As good as they were offensively though, the Birds offense was even better and could have passed all night.

Did JC have any holding penalties? I don't recall seeing any and that's either pretty good for a team that runs the ball that much or maybe there was a little home cooking.

Come on gryche11. Are you saying you never disagree with the refs when the game is played in NKY or Lexington or Louisville? Was your great vantage better than the referees'?

 

Everybody disagrees with calls at times, but alleging cheating by the refs just because you are "in the mountains" is offensive to the good people at JC that do a great job and I think it was a really weak thing to say.

The officiating crew was out of Lexington, Kentucky. Probably closer to Ft T than Paintsville. Far stretch from the mountains.

 

Secondly, I had a good vantage point as well and did not have a problem with the call. It was so very close... could have gone one way or the other. (If you looked at the right pole of that goal post - it had a serious lean to the right. If anything, that would have been in Cody's favor as the ball sailed high over that leaning pole!) No doubt, Cody will nail it next time...

 

IMO, the officiating was very good. I did not like some of the calls... but that was because the calls were against the Birds! Call 'em as you see 'em.
