Great game by both teams! Go Birds!! We didnt stop at the dq but had the burgers from the grill at the stadium. Very good!

Congrats on a nice season Central and Birds two more to go.

The game in many ways reminded me of the 2006 CCH/HHS playoff game. In that game CCH ran straight at HHS and they had trouble stopping them.

 

I do not understand why more teams do not run straight at them.

 

It was obvious, to me, that they did not handle the "physicalness" of JC, very well. The belly option that JC runs can give defenses fits especially undersized ones, particularly ones that are undersized upfront.

But to their credit they forced 2 turnovers and then capitalized on them at critical

points.

 

I would have liked to see HHS run more of their counter trap plays in the first half. Rather than QB sweeps and QB ISO's. Josh Conner was running thru some large holes when they finally started running the counter traps. Some of those kick out blocks were devastating.

Well did it live up to the hype? Was this the championship game in your opinion? I couldn't get it online and I was out of town tonight.

 

I think so and quite possibly. JC was impressive, but every bit as one dimensional as advertised. Good lord could they run that ground game, though. The game really hinged on Kody Rosenhagen's 70 yard "fumble recovery" for a TD. It happened as JC was driving for a potential tying score. Until that happened, I was thinking that this was going to be one of those game decided on the last play, but once they got down by 14, it forced JC to take chances that they might not normally have taken. A very nice drive and a great game. Extremely entertaining, and the facility is first rate. (Although the music is every bit as annoying as a Campbell County game.:irked:)

JC has a nice setup and a great football atmosphere. As big as this game was, you would've thought they could've filled their side of the stadium.

 

Found it funny listening in on a couple of JC fans conversation before the game...."We'll smack these boys in the mouth, they'll quit and we'll win by 3-4 TD's". "Yep, gonna be a long drive back for them after they get a taste of mountain ball."

Wow! Cody Rosenhagen did everything tonight. I saw him at the half in the stands selling cotton candy. He makes the fumble recovery, returns it 70 yards for a TD, kicks the PAT and then goes and kicks off and covers that and stays in the game to continue terrorizing the eagles on D.

 

The JC rushing offense is all that and a bag of chips. JC has a great program and excellent facilities. They really do it right. :thumb:

 

Will Bardo with the 2 INT's was huge.

 

JC plays some smash mouth football and their backs are big and run very well.

Turnovers killed JC tonight but penalties killed the 'birds in the first half.

 

 

Highlands has a 4th and a foot and punts. JC has a 4th & a foot, goes for it and makes it. I thought this could be a turning point but ended up not to be because of the TO's.

 

 

HHS offense was really firing on all cylinders tonight and could score so fast in the second half that the D couldn't get any rest.

 

Will Bardo & Austin Collinsworth on D did a fabulous job keeping the long plays from being TD's.

 

 

Mega-Kudos to the offensive line for giving Tony Guidugli all night to throw. Tony looked awesome. Several beautiful passes including hitting Daniel Gold in stride for the long TD, the sweet pass to Nick Buten. The TD to Kyle Welz & the throwback to Josh Conner.

 

Way to step up Kyle Welz playing tight-end filling in for Brandon Roller. It was great to see you made the trip Brandon. Get well for next year and remember you are a huge part of why the Birds are here.

 

 

JC is young and will be back next year. I hope we are able to meet in the Fort in late November. Maybe Ron Siry will fire up some AC/DC between the plays?! OK, maybe he will fire up some Lawrence Welk but........

 

 

JC is really building a program. I am sure to catch grief for this but I don't think anybody in NKY outside of HHS could stay within several TD's of them this year. They were definitely in the the stronger district this year. If BS doesn't end up as the 4th seed because of the tie, That district goes 3-1 against ours, easy.

 

A local marine told me on Tuesday, when I pressed him for a prediction, 35-21. :ylsuper: He must have told his friend in Danville too.

The FB for JC is only a Soph. man does he run hard and play a good LB, as well. It will be fun to watch him the next couple of years.

In case you haven't noticed, football has changed quite a bit in the state the past 15 years.

 

Yeah it has changed, but it does not mean the old way can't work any more it can with a great defense.
