I'm going with the over/under of 5. I just don't think that you will see many on the blue and white squad.

I do feel we are more talented than they are, but we've beaten plenty of teams that were more talented than we are. Ashland has the kind of program and kind of kids that make them a very, very dangerous opponent. Birds better bring their A game from the get go."

 

So which of my statements do you feel I was sandbagging: that Ashland has a very fine football team? I'm surprised that you don't think Ashland has a fine football team. Tthat Ashland is capable of beating us? You aren't admitting that Ashland isn't capable of beating us are you and throwing in the towel before the game has even been played? That Ashland has the kind of program that is capable of beating us? I'm surprised that you don't have a higher regard for Ashland's program and tradition. That Ashland has the type of kids capable of beating us? The sin of sins for a program's fans. Doubting the abilities and heart of the kids.

 

Either I told the truth or I was deceitful, lied and was sandbagging. If I was sandbagging as you have so brutally and viciously accused me of doing , it is only logical to conclude that you feel that I lied and that you obviously feel that Ashland doesn't have a fine football team, that they are not capable of beating us and that Ashland does not have the type of kids capable of beating us. You're going to get ran out of NE Ky.:D.

WHAT TO WATCH: Blazer running backs Josh Alber and Rashard Carter provide most of the team's offense. Carter gets most of the carries and yards (184 carries for 1,239 yards), while Alber gets more attempts near the goal line. He's scored 16 touchdowns on just 107 carries. Highlands senior running back Josh Conner, returning from a broken fibula, played in last week's win over Bryan Station and scored a touchdown. Expect him to get more carries as the postseason progresses.

 

WHAT'S NEXT: The winner will advance to play either Johnson Central or Covington Catholic in the regional finals.

 

BOTTOM LINE: Maybe the Class 5A statewide competition is more wide open than everyone thought. Defending champion Highlands, a heavy favorite to repeat, had to come from behind to beat Bryan Station 28-22 last week. Ashland Blazer, which looked impressive in a 35-24 win over Dixie Heights last week, also could challenge the Bluebirds.
